I bought my PB360 about 4 months ago (the ivory version) and it looks like new, even though I take it with me whereever I go, without any additional protective cover. I decided for the ivory one because the contrast between the frame and the screen is not so harsh, and in comparison to the black model I had the impression that it therefore felt better for the eyes while reading.

Doesn't sound like you need more reasons to like the PB360, but the new firmware beta came out today and it reportedly has two new features you might find relevant:

- User profiles, so different users can share a Reader and keep different configurations
- Configuration back-up to SD card

I went through a similar process you went through trying to decide what ereader I was going to get. I almost went with a nook especially after reading about the softroot from the nookdevs. But after playing with the device a bunch of times in the store, it just didn't do it for me. So I moved on to investigating the PB360 and I could never find any issues with it that bothered me. The more I learned about it the more it seemed the perfect ereader. I was a little apprehensive because there was no way to physically inspect it. But I pulled the trigger anyway and I ended up with a white PB360. And I have no regrets after 4 months. Its such a well throught out ereader I am still amazed by it.

If you use Calibre its really easy to upload your ebooks and set them up in folders the way you like. I have mine so they go in a authors folder and the series get listed as well (1, 2, 3 etc).

I went with the white because of the supposed contrast issues. Though having talked to users of the black version they seem to think there is no issue. I will probably pick up a black version eventually as well.

I spent months trying to decide between the Pocketbook 360 and the Astak Pocket Pro and I am so glad I decided on the PB360. It's a brilliant reader and I'm very, very happy with it.

The organisation is what sold it for me, and how pretty it is

Phase 2: husband has been shown pictures and websites featuring the Pocketbook 360, and I am talking about this cool new technology.

With several months to go before birthday time, I have time for phase 3: Pulling together all the thick old classics from the bookshelf and showing him how much space they take up in a box in the car on their way to Half Price Books (or Goodwill, or any other place but here).

Phase 2.5: Show him this:

...then show him the bookshelf.

Funny thing, this kinda salesmanship campaign usually runs in the *other* direction in most households.

I have actually been doing just that today. I filled up a whole big box of books today, and I'm not even done. Actually, these books will probably sit here in a corner for awhile until I actually get a reader and we can try out the e-versions.

Whoa. Anyone have this collection? Is it readable? Is it just a compilation of all the epubs out there for free dl that this clever grandma copied to disk?

You really have no control on the safety of those discs. I'd be very wary about buying possibly virus-laden discs like those.

I'm not really a tech newbie and not very web-naive, but I am curious... in what ways might they have got infected?

Would this seller be knowingly spreading the stuff, or maybe just careless and not realize they might be infected?

The second one. That person just downloaded the 25k novels en masse from unknown sources, and I doubt that an antivirus was used on them.

thanks. While Googling for ebookstores in general to see the variety out there, I noticed quite a few questionable sources.
