I looked into the TI series emulators.
Big mess, HP has made ROM images downloadble, TI hasn't. You must suck a ROM out of your TI calculator to install a ROM into an emulator. I was able to compile tilem for the iLiad but after discovering the ROM situation it didn't seem worth the effort to locate the points to insert the refresh logic. ![]() |

hpcalc.org is quite interesting. There you can find a HP 48 section with emulators etc.

The HP48 was supossed to be, time ago, the culmination of calculators. It was the combination of HP-41 plus HP-28. As the 41, it had the possibility of reading IE3 data, HPIB bus interfaces, etc. As the 28, it was able to do analitical calculus, derivatives, Taylor series expansion and such. |

I worked on it off and on for two weeks to get the configuration right, linking to work, screen refresh to work as well as it's going to get on the iLiad's e-Ink panel. I find it very useful (but then I've had an HP48 at my desk for 16 years) but the whole ROM thing seems to have put the kibosh to it. I've got a start on a CBR plug in for my pluggable ipdf but now I wonder if that plug in should be released??? Code:
./ipdf Yume_no_Shiro_v01_Story1_\[DV\].zip ![]() |

Assuming no one finds any problems with my proposed [SHELL] hack installer I'll post a standalone x48 ZIP that can be unpacked onto a memory device and then run via the [SHELL] hack (much like the modified gnuchess I put together for Design256).
The one extra bit of work: you would need to go on the net and download your own ROM image and copy it into the unpacked directory yourself. As a bonus feature I'll include two ROM fetcher scripts. One will fire up wired ethernet and then wget the ROM into the right place, the other will fire up the wireless and fetch the ROM. |

Here it is
Here is my port of x48 to the iLiad.
Extract the zip file into an MMC/CF card or into your iLiad's internal drive. Then with the [SHELL] hack installed navigate to where you extracted it and run the "run.sh" script. Please note, if you turn the calculator off? It turns off, and waits for you to turn it back on. ![]() To quit use the X button in the upper right. When you quit it saves its state and will come back right where you left it. |

scotty1024, I owe you something.
![]() Now I have to learn to use it right. I own a old Casio Graphing Calculator, but this looks completely different. It's time to remove my hardware calculator [a Casio solar non-graphing calculator] out of my backback. ![]() I found a User's Guide [600 pages, 28 MB] & a Quick Start Guide @ HP's website. You have to read the QSG [links are posted], otherwise you can't understand what's going on, when you start x48.
A con of the manuals on HP's website is they don't have any hyperlink, so I created ones. PM me if you want a edited version [files are too large to post here I think] source code of x48 which scotty used to port it you can find here. |
