@jackwise If you consider Shaggy's posts to be biased in favour of iRex, treat them as such There are many other users of this forum and Shaggy does not have the authority, and probably is not willing, to censor anything

Don't have any authority on here, and don't want it. Even if I did I wouldn't censor anything, I hate censorship. I think the ability for users to speak their mind and state their own opinions is very important for forums like this. Not only for the users, but also for iRex. Hearing negative complaints probably does more to help them improve their products than the positive posts.

That doesn't mean I necessarily agree with some opinions, but I feel strongly that everyone has a right to state them.

Why some people seem to think I feel otherwise is a mystery to me. I will grant you that people who are upset probably don't like hearing somebody else say they are happy, but I'm not going to apologize for being happy with my iLiad and DR800.

I know for 100% certainty that Shaggy is NOT an iRex employee.

But even if he is - so what? Shaggy's posts have often been helpful and informative.

Jackwise, you better start worrying about other matters -- Greece comes to mind? Yes, Shaggy is defending Irex, but not in every post. And he hasn't addressed every complaint. Besides, he is posting in many other parts of the forum. And, for comparison, may I suggest you visit the Apple forum? As soon as a valid point is raised about some problems/missing features (or something you would like to have included) one hundred people stand ready to pounce on the offender like hungry wolves, turning every problem into a feature and suggesting that anyone who dares to question anything leave and never return. I still like to go there and watch the carnage just for the entertainment.

I think Shaggy is a fan of iRex.........so what.......we all have our favorite device/vendor. He provides good input to the community and just because you might not agree with his viewpoint doesn't make it any less valid. For people looking for real opinions on these devices it's great to get a balanced perspective from fans and those less so.

Also, given the above board engagement of the iRex developers on this forum why would they have somebody else play a different role. It just doesn't make sense.

This criticism of shaggy is in bad taste. And stands out especially considering how positive the mobileread.com community generally behaves.

I was a very early buyer of the DR1000. I am unhappy with my mistake in buying a product with a non-replaceable battery. Which is pretty much the only "defect" of the DR1000. I have discovered the the bebook neo also has reduced battery life in comparison to non-wacom readers.

BTW wacom itself is having trouble with it intous 4 usb ports breaking in a similar manner to the Dr1000.

Yeah, that's always been one of my main complaints about the iLiad as well (among many other consumer electronic devices). I've lost track of the number of times I've had to crack open the cases of my wife's various Palm Pilots (her eBook reader of choice) over the years in order to do a battery swap. I'm glad to see iRex started moving in the right direction with the DR800's battery access.

Honestly, I suspect trolling. I've managed forums for 10 years and Shaggy may love his product but he's informed, on the up and up and not posting for pay. The IREX DR800SG has many cool points and I respect it, even though I've pointed out some negatives on my own site (because I believe and hope they will do even better). IREX employees clearly identify themselves on this forum. And they're helpful and informative when they do post.

Is it "good" or "bad". I don't know, and didn't even get into that. I just said it was "normal" compared to what most others were seeing.
Pardon for my english.

Shaggy, go on. I'm reading a long time and thanks to your help I have chosen well.

Also comment that in his comments I have read criticism of IREX.

If Shaggy can be an iRex employee, then we might as well start suspecting everyone with a negative comment of being employees of Amazon, or Barnes & Noble, or Apple... and so this forum is one big expo for e-reader companies.

My theory is that all posts are by one person with multiple personalities.
