The PB360, ironically, does have MP3 support, but it can't play them (there is no earphone plug) so it doesn't matter So no, you can't play mp3 audiobooks in it.

What it does have is a dictionary, and not only one, but you can put many, even create them yourself. In Mobileread itself I've seen some people putting up some self-made dictionaries, and in the support sites you can find more.

I haven't seen a direct comparison PB360 vs. PRS 300, but here is a PB vs- 505 which might help you:

Most of us have our readers listed on the left under our avatar pics. I have an iRiver Story (which is an e-ink device), an iTouch iPod, a cheap 10" netbook and a 12" HP tablet style computer. They all have their good points.

All the features you could need are available, but just not in the same product. Some things are mutually exclusive - i.e. the device that's small enough to slip easily into my trouser pocket (the iTouch) is just not big enough to do a decent job of displaying something like a technical manual or a magazine with complex layout. But other strengths and weakness are also spread across the spectrum. E-ink based devices are light and some people like the way they look, but in comparison to a device with a computer style OS they're very primitive at this stage. Grey-on-grey displays, no ability to instal your own choice of a range of software, etc.

My own current favourites are the two computers - because my priority is to have the versatility they offer to instal any software and read anything from plain text through to full colour and movement on internet based content. But others would rule that solution out because they want something even lighter or smaller, or don't like computer screens.

Like TGS said, the analytical search for perfection is a pretty fruitless one, you usually just have to fall for one or the other for no especially logical reason. And then keep saving for the next one that will catch your eye in another year or two...

Good luck.

Cheers,

Chris

Is there one that fits all this? Or am I asking for the impossible?? Is the Neo really my only answer? Help!
One more fly in the ointment ... the Bebook Neo isn't shipping yet for any price.

Check out the Kobo later this week at Chapters/Indigo. Since you already have played with (and hated) the Kindle 2, maybe at $170 including taxes you'll decide the Kobo is "good enough" for the meantime.

They're available off the shelf here in West Australia now - I just double checked. It usually takes a while for new stuff to filter through to us too. Is it just Canada where shipping is a problem at the moment?

That's certainly not true. I've had mine for over two months now.

The site says they are shipping at the end of April. Don't know if this is just for Canada or what.

I am definitely waiting for the Kobo, but if I know myself I know I won't like it. I am starting to realize that I can't "get it all"...

If I can get over the screen, I may look to purchase the PRS-600. It's $275 right now at sonystyle.ca.

I just ordered the PRS-600 online and decided to wait for a couple of years for a much better model. For $355 (incl. a case and taxes), I hope I love it!!

Thank you everyone for all the advice!
