I got mine, but unfortunately I still can't join because it needs a US cellphone number to authenticate...pity...^^

Serious? That blows! I've received my invite directly from Amazon, which is ironic since I am non-US.

Hi commanderROR,

Your case is like mine; because I live in New Zealand; however, I've been able to open an account. What you do first: open an account with amazon.com. After that when you use the invitation link use the email address that have used to open the account with amazon. I already had an account with amazon. However, I first tried to use new email address as a new user, it asked me a cell ph. number as you mentioned. But when use an existing account with amazon, it's an easy go.

I have an account with amazon, and I can usually log into the US amazon without problems even though I have a german amazon account.
I'll try it again and see whether I have any success..

UPDATE:

I tried to log into amazon.com and it worked. If I use the link Alexander provided and then try to sign in for Askville with my Amazon account it gives me the "Phone Number" thing again.
Maybe it's because my invite went to a different email addy that the one I have registered with amazon already?

If you have invites to spare, could you try sending me one to my email address RolandRohde(at)freenet.de ?

Just replace the (at) with an @...:-)

I still haven't managed to join, but I'll give it another try with a "fresh" amazon.com account since the amazon.de account I own does work for the amazon.com online store but does not work for the askville login...
