Thanks Ned, I did read the other messages which is where I got to know about the Eject facility! I just wonder about the difference in my screen display with that on the Reader Help file....

How slow is normal?
I have read through the replies and I have not found the answer. Here is my situation: I load books in the Library, check to make sure the software read them (thanks for that tip!), then plug my eReader in. It auto syncs and shows the eReader list with all of my books, but it will then take 24 - 36 hours to update the eReader itself. I think this is wrong, do you? So while the eReader is synced in the SW, it is NOT synced on my device. I have now deleted all non-synched books and have loaded one on. 15 minutes later, it is still going. My husband's Nook takes about a minute to do the same thing.

I had a similar problem once. It was something to do with one of the files. I can't remember which, but I managed to isolate one file which was causing the issue. To be safe, I backed up the books, deleted the Reader Software, reinstalled it and then transferred the books one at a time - (took perhaps a second each) and then it was all ok. Was never sure what happened and it never happened again.
Best of luck. |

New problem
So I thought I had this figured out. I stopped the synch and loaded each book individually. It worked great - all 17 books loaded. I read two over the next week, went to start the third, and it was no longer there. Meaning the title shows up but it comes back with an error message when I tried to open it. ALL of the remaining books had changed as well. So I deleted them all, then reloaded. Now, when the reader is attached to my computer, I can open the files from the device and read them on the computer but they keep giving me the error message. Argh! Did I just get a dud?

Your PRS-300 (and any reader that uses ADE to render books) requires these files to be 260k chunks or less but in comparison your computer has a massive amount of memory so the calibre viewer will open files that the PRS-300 might not open.. |

Synch just doesn't work. Or, rather, not reliably enough to be usable.
First of all, it gets stuck at times. Sometimes it's just slow, sometimes it gets stuck 'forever'. Even worse, it creates huge problems in terms of backup. If you lose the items on your PC (say, a forced reinstallation) the first time you synch, it will delete everything from your device as well. Or, at least, that's what happened to me. My advice is to just drag-and-drop. By the way - you can drag and drop entire collections, it works just fine. |

I am not sure what you are trying to say... but all I am trying to point out is that drag-and-drop is the way to go. Sure, calibre is an alternative, but not if you need to transfer annotations, bookmarks, etc...
