The LCD screens are no more fragile than a notebooks screen. So, treat it like an electronic device and not like a paper book that you jam into a back back.. and it will be find.

You can probably find a place to buy accident insurance. I think Best Buy offers it for most electronic devices. Make sure it is the DAMAGE warranty and not just the one that extends the manufacturer warranty.

I've had my classic ipod for about four years now so I'm not terribly accident prone but I have dropped it. I get worried about investing so much into a reader that's surface is glass. I wanted a kindle when it first came out but this picture kind of turned me off a bit
Apparently the guy sat on his bag accidentally .... so how fragile are these readers.and what's the most skookum brand or model in your opinion.

Cheers
Alice
Sitting on his bag is not a little bump. He probably pressed something else into that Kindle screen with over 100 lbs of pressure. I wouldn't call that fragile, but mishandling.

I'm sure an iPad will be fine if you treat it like a piece of electronics and not the same as a pbook. I don't like the iPad for many reasons, but fragility certainly isn't one of them.
