Hi Joyce,

have a look over here:

Alexander Turcic is the founder of MobileRead in Oct 2002, a forum that started off being almost exclusively about mobile devices, and how to get text files onto them. The URL name of MobileRead was first used in May 2004. Across the past few years the focus has shifted away from cell phones and pdas to eBooks/etext/eBook readers. Everyone here is a volunteer, and most of them are here for the same reason... a Google search on something eBook Reader related had lots of results from the forums here. Once we started reading eventually there was a post we wanted to respond to... bam! another addict.

So you could say it's a truly international place with swiss origin and proprietorship . Mind you: We will never know how many users from which countries there are because many choose not to show in their profiles or consider it utterly unnecessary to loose words about it.

But maybe the frappr map should be replaced by something else which takes off a bit better ...

Alexander Turcic, the site-owner, is is Switzerland. But the MR servers re in Canada; and we also have a U.S. server.

Wow, it's truly a United Nations gathering here. Do you find it difficult to buy books for your e-readers? I was under the impression Kindles weren't as widespread in other countries, so I assume you get your reading material from other sources on other devices. I also noticed that Amazon UK doesn't have all the titles that Amazon US has and vice versa. Do you find it hard to find the books you want to read when you're limited to the booksellers who sell to your device?

I buy all my books from the US ! - when they're not geo-restricted... (They're cheaper too .... )

We rented a house in Southworth for a few months before moving here. It was really nice there. Far enough out of town but close enough to be convenient. Though I did get a speeding ticket in front of Sedgwick Junior High once.

I drive by there every time I leave the house. and yeah, they do tend to hang out there, the school is set so far back that people don't even realize it is a school area

Oh, I realized. I usually drove to Olympic College before the time during which it was a "school zone" near the junior high. One day I was running late and drove through there at 8 AM going 45 mph, the normal speed limit but during the school hours. It was right before we moved here and I got the ticket deferred. No tickets in two years was easy since I haven't been in the country!

I buy a lot of my books from the US as well - most of them are geo-restricted. And it works out cheaper for me. There are not many Australian sites offering e-books and the ones that are have ridiculous prices. But I've had no problems so far acquiring books that I want so it's been good
