after you finished your search, radio button should not jump to the default value, but stay where it was left.

What the webmaster is doing!

What the webmaster is doing!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear All:

Some of you are anxious to see this eBook Store work optimally and to get Steven Lake eBooks. Me too.

However, the biggest thing that needs to happen VERY quickly is to allow you to deal direct with the eBook Store specialists and be able to talk reviews, problems, questions, authors, titles, wants, disputes, and casual posts done.

Therefore, the webmaster is undertaking putting a full fledged FORUM on www.MyEZread.com. This is a huge task and will be really helpful when done.
So... this has been given number one priority and he is spending huge chunks of waking hours doing this. Please do not think that little is being done... he is trying to do all of the changes PLUS get the FORUM up!

Yes, you now can sort by PDF and EPUB titles. Many of you asked for this. We are listening and we are acting. These suggestions you have made WILL give our eBook Store some things other eBook Stores do not have!

Dear Irenas:

Good suggestion! Once you press author and do a search, it should stay in the "author search" mode. Let me recommend this!!

Dear Cancelx:

You are really posting well. I always appreciate confirmation that what I saw others are seeing.

I am happy you like Andrew Murray and I will ask the eBook Specialist to do a review of an Andrew Murray eBook.

And this is where that new forum is going to be great! There are so many wonderful suggestions for your bookstore here on these forums, but it will be even better once there is a place where people can directly offer their suggestions. I know there are some qwerks right now to the new bookstore, and that's to be expected. But just the fact that y'all are open to suggestions, and doing so much to make it better... well, that really shows what a great company Astak is! Each day I am so thankful I chose an Astak reader, rather than a Sony!

Author searches not structured as "lastname, firstname" don't work on exact matches... which means you can get a swarm of results from other authors with the same first or last name as the one you want. While that's sometimes useful, especially if you're not sure of spelling, *exact* matches should be displayed first, and then other variants on the name/spelling.

Author search for "Isaac Asimov" turned up:
  • Handbook of Medical Image Processing and Analysis by Bankman, Isaac
  • Immunology of Human Reproduction by Manyonda, Isaac T.
  • The Scope of Governing: An Introduction to the Study of Politics by Isaac, D. Balbus
And several other books, long before it listed I, Robot.

Search for "Asimov, Isaac" had much better results; the top line were Foundation & Robots books, before it started showing me books by other authors whose first names were Isaac.

If the search engine works notably better with "lastname, firstname" instead of "firstname lastname," it needs work. Possibly, it just needs a line of text suggesting that author's last name should be listed first. But fixing the actual search algorithm would be better.

(Also, about pricing: Z.A. Maxfield's "ePistols at Dawn," which is on my "to buy soon" list, costs fifty cents *more* at MyEZRead than at other sites. Suggested retail is $5.49, and your store has it for $5.99--as PDF only, possibly DRM'd PDF only. I expect to be buying it from Fictionwise when I decide to throw money at it; I'll get access to it in several formats *and* for less money. Tell your marketing people that trying to end all the prices in .99 is a silly decision when other stores are not rounding up.)

I hope I don't come across as complaining too much. I want Astak readers to be a lot more popular--they're what I most often recommend to people who are interested in ebook readers--and I'd like the store to succeed, even if I turn out not to be the target customer. I expect new sites to have some bugs to work out, and hope that feedback lets them get fixed faster.

Actually, it's a 7 book series, not 3. I've only got the first 3 out so far, hence why it looks like a trilogy.

Thanks for the opportunity to download one of your books for free!

You can author search by full name.

Dear Elfwreck:

You are not complaining... you are helping.

At present, the correct way on our site to do an author search is to type the full name of the author like this: "Clive Cussler" or "Isacc Asimov". Your point is well taken and I should have told everyone about this.

The search engine does not recognize commas. Just enter the name straight as: first name and then last name with a space in between. You can also search by just the last name "Asimov" but many authors have the same last name and typing first and last will help prevent bringing up pages of authors.

ePistols at Dawn: let me look up what that is costing us and see if we can price that at $5.39. I do not know until I try. I agree with you that rounding to "something.99" is a way to loose business. I cannot always have the lowest price; but we do intend to be that way 90% of the time. Wholesalers charge us a price and then we mark up the minimum we can and make pennies. Let me check it out. Check our store in a few days please and I may be able to make you happy.

Ah, ok. So, a Hitchhiker's Guide style trilogy, eh?

Then, if I like the first book, I'll buy the others until I get bored. Fair enough?

I believe (correct me if i am wrong), that a library search is usually set up as "LastName ,(comma) FirstName"
So it would be "Asimov, Isaac"
IMHO

Dear Elfwreck:

We are adjusting the price for "ePistols at Dawn" to $5.39 with haste. It may be a few hours.

Thank you!!

Dear irenas:

You may be right that libraries use: last name, first name. BUT... the existing arrangement on our site is: first name "space" last name.

Sounds fair enough for me. But I doubt you'll grow bored. Each book is better than the last. So it'll keep you coming back.
