Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Netflix and the ABC video apps. Both are fantastic if you're like me and already making use of them on other devices.

Surprised to see USA Today listed. I find it pretty clunky with the scrolling through the list of articles not working all the time. Add in that it's only free until July....

I'd also add (in addition to the NY Times) that the AP, BBC and NPR news apps are all pretty good.

Wow... thanks for the heads up. I love it. Just need to figure out how to get my Safari bookmarks over to it.

Do all apps come from the app store? Or are they available elsewhere?

Only app store.

Though I assume if it's jailbroken you'll be able to get software from other places like you can the iPhone.

Glad I started this topic, wouldn't have known about the Atomic Web Browser without it. Well worth the $1 and it knocked Safari right off my dock!

Same here... love it. Not sure why it has some 1 star reviews.

Dragon Dictation (free), Instapaper Pro ($5) and Frotz (free, but I think only for limited time)

Atomic Web Browser is great! Heaps better than Opera Mini as far as functionality and rendering. Quite a bit of customization and the color themes are a nice touch also. Thanks for mentioning this one (I added it to my Touch).

It is. There’s a little brightness icon at the top right that will allow adjustment of just the iBooks brightness. I can see it dim the backlight after the app launches.

My favorite (most-used) apps:

iBooks
NYT crossword app
Kindle reader
The Weather Channel app

Yeah, that's four.

If you like crosswords, you should try Arrow Words (Mots Fléchés in french) : it's free, comes with 9 grids and is awesome... They'll send grid packs starting in may

readMe - has night view, can read ePubs, easy to download books from calibre library
Netflix - Not the best designed app, but quite useful when lying in bed with your back out.
We Rule - Silly little farm game with social features. (I'm nikolawannabe!)

new game has me hooked.. space miner. it's old school asteroids modern day with a little bit of cheezy story, some rpg'ish elements (you can make custom modifications to your ship) and decent graphics. $5. but easily worth five $1 games.

@nikkie: Interesting, does readme use the OPDS feed (like stanza) of your calibre library or do you have to use the normal webpage?
