I would have thought that the unpopular reception the device got would have them balk at trying to market it. Hmmm... that's kind of good news! |

I use the RSS feeds from MobiPocket Reader Desktop. Some RSS feeds are just highlights, but some sites put the full articles, with pictures, in their RSS feeds. In my case, I found that USA Today's site had the complete articles with pictures. I set up the topics I want -- US News, World News, Science and Space, etc., and download the feeds. I then copy the prc files from the Feeds folder to the News folder on my CF card.
It took some looking to find a good site for the feeds I wanted. Most US based news sites use the same sources for many stories -- Reuters or Associated Press. Some only put highlights in the feeds, some don't include pictures and some put so much junk text (copyright by xxxx, posted by xxxx, etc.) at the end of the feed, that the junk is longer than the article itself. PC Magazine is a good example of this. Some of their feeds include full text and pictures, but they put over a page of material at the end of each feed -- Featured Events, summaries of PCMagCasts, a full list of site links and more, all before the standard copyright stuff. I realize this is a work-around, not a solution, but it does get the current news I want onto my iLiad. I've attached a sample feed. I had to change the file extension to zip to post it. Just change it back to prc. |

I agree it was definitely a big step to get the MobiPocket RSS feed option! I use it very often! Would be even nicer to download it directly from the IDS (just pushing the button on the Iliad).
![]() Does anybody know if "Les echos" comes through IDS. I would guess, that you have to download it from their site. Second question is: Do the files have active links.... Would be nice to get a sample anyway.. subscription is slightly expensive just for testing purposes.. (some 365.- EUR). ![]() |

![]() This is quite disappointing if true as it sounds like it could make official IDS based newspaper content for the iLiad harder to come by. Hopefully other papers will see sense and support multiple devices, after all it would increase their eink reader base. |
