It's definitely a lot slower for image based PDFs, a related thing is that it also consumes the battery more quickly than v1. See my detailed feedback here:https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=51

Hi, I am new at this forum, I just want to send a message to irex 800 developers. If version 2's pdf enhancement will be as good as sony drs 900, I will buy irex otherwise I will choose sony. Many of my friends agree with me. I hope you will be successful at this release, because irex hardware design and screen quality is better than sony.

What do you mean by "pdf enhancement"?

Please do. Combined with Fit Width and/or Fit Visible, this would be ideal for me. It's the same way I view PDFs on my desktop.

Thank you for coming here to read and comment. This kind of interaction is unknown in the forums of other brands.

You know;

1. No margin cropping. There's a customizable margin setting in the menu that works excellent for EPUB ebooks but seems to have no affect on PDFs.
2. No zoom.
3. Landscape mode is atrocious. It fits the page by height instead of width, giving it 2-inch margins on the sides.

Totally agree! Zoom is a pain, it should be more accessible, everything hidden under cascaded menus is not a user-friendly design, better have icons on the toolbar.

Same situation for "Go to page" function, we can shorten "page 12 of 351" to "12/351", and leave more room for icons. Go to page? simply click "12/351", than will pop-up input box.

I second that, this would be a great way to speed up things. Irex could get rid of the 3G/flight mode icon to free up additional space, no need to have that on screen at all times.

I just had several problems:

1.)When I connected via USB the bottom half of the screen was blank. Not really a problem for me, but perhaps an indicator that something is wrong?

2.)I had a big PDF open, about 50MB. Then I connected via USB and loaded additional files. I got an error message "have to close file" (something like that).
3.)Page rendering on some graphic PDFs is awfully slow, it speeds up once you go back a second time to a page rendered previously. But after you close the document and reopen it later the Irex "forgets" those. Since storage space is not really an issue, is there any way to store these settings?

Scribbles on PDF

It may be just me, but this is what seems to be happening. I make some marks on a page of a PDF, underlinings for example, then carry on reading it. If I then go back to the page that made underlinings on they have disappeared.

As I say, it may be something I'm doing wrong - not really had time to spend exploring the beta yet, but if some else could try to replicate this I'd be grateful.

I suggest to add continuous page display and get rid of 'pan' in pdf reading. It is very hard to use the pan option.

For me, enabling the "continuous" view in "pan" mode will be enough. The problem of the current "pan" mode is that it is not usable by the flipbar. It is doing exactly the same thing as on a PC, relying on the mouse (holding down the left button, now the stylus move) to move around the page. However, with the flipbar, a swipe moves to the next view, but not continuing last view. And worse, it takes either the stylus or the menu to move to the next page.
