I don't think you can, but that's why they said they are thinking of disabling this by default for the final release.

I wonder if the index is stored on the internal memory of the device or on the card itself. I guess it doesn't matter since there is no write-protect switch on microsd. Perhaps something can be done with the read-only file attribute.

Sounds like that would cause more problems than it solves.

Major problems with 2.0 from my point of view are common with the previous posts. Following problems special bother me:
- pdf files which were merged with the 1.7.7 and include the scribbled notes are hidden, pages are empty
- also the pages printed with the xournal which include txt are hidden, by are seen at the desktop normaly.
- grey color instead of black in pdf
- not enough zooming
- no available templates in note editor, no possibility to copy/cut/paste sribbles
- recently used files shall be similar as Mackx has done in 1.7.1
- no possibility for merging the scribbles
- some letters in our languages are not seen, there were no problems in 1.7.1
- indexing time to long

Regards,

In one of the other topics I've posted that you can edit your dr.ini before first boot, edit it and add the following line:

Code:
/apps/er/sys/index/add_with_metadata=false
Make sure you use a proper editor, e.g. Wordpad and not Notepad when using Windows.

Well
The "won't start" syndrome is still with us.
I'd let mine get down to 8% full battery yesterday and then plugged in to recharge. It then charged up and showed 100% full.
First thing this morning, won't start, won't "reset". Had to plug in and recahrge again. Now after 10mins, the RED lED is on and it's just sarting to boot up.
Shows 5% available

(First time with the new software and only the 3rd time in total)

Thank you for question. May languagae is Slovene codepage 1250 . We have c with roof, s with roof, z with roof. Special problems were with the letter c with roof what manifestate as a space. There is also other distortion, but I can describe you right now because I dowgrade back to version 1.7.1, because of the mentioned reasons. Problems with the letter is not present in the 1.7.1.

Thank you,
Regards

Sounds like it didn't go into sleep mode and ran the battery back down again overnight. Was it plugged in all night, or did you unplug it after it showed 100% full? Did you have any documents open when you set it aside for the night, or was it on the menu. If you had a document open, what type was it?

Hi Shaggy,
No, unplugged after 100%, no docs open as far as I recall and I always shutdown from the menu.

This firmware rocks in terms of usability, but it is unusable because of the Antialiasing and contrast of the text in screen. It is totally horrible, weak and the old firmware it is much much best than the actual.

There are books that now I simply cant read with the new firmware.

The easiest way to make the indexing more palatable is to add some form of status update while indexing is taking place. Any multi-step action that has the potential to run more than 30 to 45 seconds should report something to the user as it processes. It is unreasonable to have a process that can last a minute or more and not report any indication of progress to the user.

Matthijs, you mentioned that on boot there are two indexing steps

For step one you could first just get the total number of directories that need to be scanned. Before step 2 begins you could setup a progress bar on the screen that you update every 20 seconds with the progress made as a percentage of the directories that the indexing scan as completed, the current directory being scanned, and the total time the index scan has been running.

The issue with the indexing would not be so bad if we had some idea of how much time was remaining until the end of the index scan. Updating the progress bar and current directory of the scan gives people an idea of how long they will have to wait. This makes the wait seem shorter as the user is not sitting there waiting and wondering when it is going to finish loading.

The same is true for me. Plenty of my books are scans of old out-of-print books in foreign languages. With the reduced contrast some of them are now illegible.
