Don't keep topping them up too fanatically though; taking it from 99% back to 100% every chance you get isn't good either. I recommend not to start charging yet when the status indicator still reports over 95%.

(My Lenovo laptop comes with a nice bit of management software that handles this automatically. When it is at 98% or so when I plug it in, it will switch to mains power, but won't charge the battery.)

Nearly all laptops are doing that (i've seen that on all laptops i've had, namely Fujitsu Lifebook, Sharp Widenote, Thinkpad, Kohjinsha and our local Averatec-like brand).
The difference is that you can see and change these limits in ThinkVantage Power Manager, but can not on most other (non-thinkpad) laptops.

Yes, DR800 has advanced charging circuitry for safety and prolonged battery life. It won't charge the battery when you plug it in at about 90% or more.
