How about a button that behaves like Window's "Open with..." ?

You mean while in the file browser, I assume?

Could be. But there IS an existing "Settings" screen for that file browser (Menu button, then "3"). It just... mysteriously does almost nothing (Key sounds, Language, a font setting, About and face it... a fairly useless Time/Date setter, since inevitably I bet we ALL turn the unit off sooner or later). Anyway, an item in those settings, something like "File Associations", with a submenu where you pick an extension then it pops up potential associated Apps? That would work too, if an "Open With button" couldn't be engineered where you suggest.

The way the OI guys implemented that feature, is that a short press on a file selection button opens the file with the current default reader application, but a long press on a file selection button brings up a menu allowing you to select the reader application for that file along with some other file manipulation selections. It does not seem that that would be too difficult for Jinke/Hanlin to implement?
