I don't want him to name it just say yes or no... though I guess that would be a breach too...

Because if it is moving it there is rather unhelpful for those of us who were waiting on the answer, before signing up...
Hehe, well, i signed up.

But i agree, it would have been helpful to leave the info somewhere, where all members can read it. But i suggest, you contact Karel directly with the question and then you will probably receive the same satisfying answer that i got.

I find it ridiculous that at the present state, iRex is keeping information from the rest of the crowd. It's not like the iLiad is the current state of the art e-book reader with a lot of happy faces. Why not show to everyone that you are at least making the effort to improve things?

Hmm, thats not quite fair. What has the NDA discussion to do with everyone else beeing happy? If you have been invited to be a beta tester and ask Karel about it in a personal mail, you will get an answer. If you can live with that or not, is up to you. For everyone else this discussion was not really of any value.

Did I offend anyone? It wasn't my intention. What I meant to say is that I don't understand why the open beta testing of the iLiad is now closed.

Oh, then i misunderstood. Well, as far as i know, they have more than enough applications from potential beta testers and therefore do not accept any more at the moment.

Someone has moved the NDA post back to the software forum.
Good thing. So everyone can read it, even if it doesnt concern them directly.
Will calm the waves over paragraph 5

Indeed very interesting, someone, before to sign the NDA, seems to disclose the contents of a letter from someone at iRex

Quote:
We do plan a tool to reflash the iLiad via a CF card however this is not yet fully functional
And here you can see the legalese of hiding the subforum: if this were a public statement from a iRex person in a public forum, then it could have legal bounds in some countries. To abstract: iRex do not participate very actively in open debugging because their programmers statements could be construed to be "promises" about the software, burdening them with obligations. On the other side, this makes the "developer forum" more credible (or burdened) as it implies it contains "aproved" promises.

(Also, the comment itself is open to criticism. If they are just speaking of a reflash utility for a working iLiad, it is clear it simply must to check the CF for the update fs.gz, copy it to the internal directory, enable the internal flag, and reboot the machine for the flash process to start. If they are speaking of a reflash tool for a hanging iLiad, ie one with a working start-up kernel but a defective filesystem, then the problem is that the CF card must be mounted from the kernel without any module and then they need most probably to compile a new one. BTW, I would like also/instead a SD card update).
