I realise you are impatient, but perhaps try and avoid posting misleading statements...?

Ahem,

That post was made a day after Ali made his. And if memory serves the only prior posting did not mention power management at all:

"2.7 on the Horizon."

So he was not posting "misleading statements" he was posting what was the truth at the time he posted it. iRex had all but clammed up on power management updates.

And even when they finally break their silence the announcement is pitiful (Less than an hour gain, and still under half the promised battery-life).

Ok... Point taken... Though it could be argues that the 2.6.1 release was a patch only, though...

True, but it was a month between 2.6 being released and 2.7 (ignoring 2.6.1) being formally announced as "forthcoming" and when that announcement was made, there are no mention of power whatsoever. It was another 2 weeks, before the "This has been delayed, but here are the full details of what we will release" which then did mention power management again.

This is what had people so worried.

The chronological order of things are already stated, so I'll not comment on it. However, you got me thinking.

What is the average deviation in battery life? The power consumption changes with a lot of factors (like room temperature). Battery capacity is degrading daily. We (users) measure battery life by leaving the device somewhere, turning a page every now and then -- I bet nobody wrote a detailed log when he turned which page so he can do it the same way again.

If the deviation is like 10% (which I think is too low), wouldn't it be a safe bet to write 5-10% somewhere, because there's nobody who could prove or disprove it? If you are a marketing-driven company and have to sell bad news (the delay of 2.7)?

And, is an improvement that is below the accuracy of measurement actually a feature?

[Can I register a second nick? E.g., ali the paranoid?]

I have all versions of their pdf and can post it later, if you think it can help...
(Productleaflet.pdf-s)

And now it still says:
The ER 0100 is a low power mobile device, specifically
designed for reading applications. The operating time of the
rechargeable battery is more than a week without
recharging, based on an average use of three hours reading
a day.
