Yup, about time.
I'll probably buy a couple of these, he's not one of my favorite writers but a couple of his books are near classics.

Do you have a Fictionwise 15% off coupon that's good right now? If so, could you share?

Fictionwise already has them marked at 15% off. But the prices are still $10.84 to $13.65. So, yes, I wonder if =X= has an additional 15% coupon or if he/she misread and didn't realize the price already was 15% off.

Though it would take more than 15% to get them down to the $8.05 he quoted.

Hi Marcy,
No there is no coupon needed, the discount is already included in the price and is listed right next to the 100% rebate icon. But if I had a coupon I would be happy to share

Yes i'm aware that the price is already marked 15% off. What I was also includeind was the 100% rebate which is prettyMich 50% off.

Though are math is not the same

18.95* 15% = $16 .11
$16.11*50%=8.06

That makes no sense.

The list price is $18.95 and with 15% off that, regular price is $16.11. Club price is $16.11 with 15% off making it $13.69 for the club price.

Hmmm. Not sure how 100% micropay rebate = 50% off of 16.11.

But whatever. I love the 100% micropay rebates. Of course the problem is, I now have so many books to read, that pretty much the only time I buy more is when there is a 100% rebate - which means I'm never actually spending my micropay dollars.

Can anyone recommend a couple of his books. I've only read The Firm and The Last Juror so far.

In my view, his first three were the only original ones worth reading: The Firm, The Pelican Brief (much better than the movie), and A Time to Kill.

Yeah I know, it's just fictionwise playing with numbers to makebut feel like the customer is getting a deal. There trying to make it look like they are giving 15% to all customers and 30% to Buywise customers.

If you look at the other bookstores they have the list price around $16, and then apply their discounts from that price Fictionwise is then only store that has the list price at $19

To be fair to Grisham, he was echoing the publishers' line about pricing, and was talking about how the publishers wouldn't be able to make money if 50% of the readers in 5 years switched to ebooks, and the ebooks were priced at $10 when initially released vs. $28 in hardcover. He said that that sort of pricing would be a problem for less established authors.

The micropay rebate is a great marketing it tricks the mind into thinking one is getting the true discount. I too was fooled at first until I did the math--the math can be tricky.

Essentially a 100% rebate is buy 2 for 1. Which is 50%
You buy one book for 16.11 and you can buy one at equal price or less.
Another way to do the math is as follow:
Two books cost $32.22 and you paid only $16.11

$32.22/$16.11 = 50%

If you where allowed to use micropay rebates to buy books AND get the rebate then the discount would be 100% but they don't so essentially it becomes a 2 for 1 sale. There are exceptions, on sales and any rebate 20% (I don't recall the actual cap) or less. So you can get more than 50% off. The math gets more complicated to find the actual discount so I'll save from showing it here.

Well loop at the upshot. There are times maybe once or twice a year where FW does have a sale where you can use your micropay rebates to buy books and get those rebates back. This will give you a deep discount since you already started with a 50% discount.

Hopes this helps

Whenever I heard Stephen King's name I'm reminded of Garth Merenghi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garth_Marenghi) and his classic show Garth Mereghi's Dark Place which mocks the spiritual/horror/hospital dramas of the 80's.

(though I have no idea if Stephen King is remotely like him, that's just the link I've made in my head)
