It's quite tricky to "perfectly" apply them, so I've reused the nook one 3 times. So far, it still sticks without any problems or recognisable damages. (*) Gelaskins and Decalgirl skins should be of identical quaility and material, I guess. (*) I wouldn't permanently switch skins though. |

Is there any "trick" to put them on?
The one on the back, without any cut-outs, is easy of course. But I've found the one on the front quite tricky. Especially on nook, where the bezel is relatively small, you see the smallest deviation. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=414 So, do you pull it entirely off the protective paper? I did so, and the nook skin was "wildly dangling around", like 20m of loose scotch tape... I've placed it on the nook and it looks okay. But if I relate the edges of the skin to the edges of the reader, I see those slight deviations. Maybe I'm overcritical, maybe I've got "2 left hands". But even a deviation of 1° or, let's say, 0.5mm you easily can see. Is there a trick? Someone said "wet hands" - but does it still stick then? Last edited by mgmueller; 03-16-2010 at 10:19 AM. |

Patience. I take off the entire backing and as I place the piece I try not to press hard until I'm sure it's lined up and then I press and smooth to eliminate bubbles. I've replaced the ones on my K2 and DX twice. My personal preference is for a dark skin.

all I can say is make sure you have a clean and clutter free working environment. go really slowly and start from a corner easing things down and smooth as you go

I've got the Gelaskins, which are really soft. Would it be harder or even rigid, it would be easier. But so I hardly knew where to even hold it. I think it would be way easier to apply, if the skin would have a front and back sheet. You pull the front, place it on the reader. Because it still has the back sheet it's more stable. After you've applied it, you pull the back sheet as well. I've managed to apply it. And it's relatively precise. But I wouldn't know how to apply it "perfectly"... I've got one nook skin as a "reserve". Maybe I try that, now already having some experience... Last edited by mgmueller; 03-16-2010 at 02:38 PM. |

I have a KDX; I have a decalgirl skin which I like a lot. I don't know about other devices, but on KDX applying the skin takes some care -- it's not hard, but getting the front pieces on perfectly can be a bit tedious. To me this would not be something that could be cycled every few days/weeks (maybe it's possible on the smaller k2, but not on the kdx).
