How much text?
Quote:
Here is what I did: I made certain that both my 5 inch and my 6 inch had roughly the same size font. Then I counted the lines of text to a page. The 6 inch gets about 23 lines of text to a page (using a large enough font for comfortable reading) The 5 inch gets about 20 lines of text. This, to me, is not a major difference. But, that is my opinion. The Maroon is certainly not very bright and garish. It is anything but that. Think of a red with a definite black tint. Nobody would call it garish. It is a subdued red is what it is in my mind. I have tried to attach pictures that may be of help comparing the 5 inch and the 6 inch screen. People love the maroon as it does not jump out at you at all. It is easy on the eyes and the gentlest maroon I have seen. |

I found a used 6" EZ Reader on Ebay today for $150/free shipping. I went ahead and bought it. This way I can let mom play with both the Jetbook Lite that I have and the EZ Reader. She can decide if she wants lcd or eink and 6" or 5". Then I can go from there.
After the new 6" reader comes out, and the dust settles, I will decide on which reader I need for mom, my sister and I. Thanks for everyone's patients! When I make my final decision I'll let everyone know. S Oh, and just an afterthought. The Mentor Lite looks like a good device for older people, 6" screen, one button operation. If I didn't keep reading about how hard it is to push the buttons I would have gone for it. There are going to be more and more people wanting these devices that have arthritis, and maybe not so gadget savvy. That may be a niche that you want to fill. One other thing it definitely needs is another way to page turn. Old hands get tired holding it in the same way all the time. Maybe another D pad on the left as well, so you could hold it with either the right or left hand, and page forward with either thumb? Even one button right in the middle is very far for old thumbs to reach. Just my two cents. |
