Voted... Have the old Black PP. I have a dark blue 505 so wanted to stay in that color range....Dark that is... bright colors and reading don't mix with me..though I have seen an OPUS and like the white color on that.

I got the slate blue but it's really dark blue. There's no grey tone to it.
My SC card is the same color so it camouflages nicely unlike the brown case.

I purchased white 5" EZ Reader Pro. I think white is the best for me because:
1. It is not painted - nothing to wrinkle or peel off.
2. No scratches on body will be visible because it is not painted.
3. In hot summer days in direct sunlight it will be cooler than any other colors, and I bought it to read books in Cancun or Florida.

People here have used the term "Painted" with a very broad brush.

All 5" PEz are Coated with a translucent, non-slip coating of a similar color of the Base Plastic (there were reports of a few early release units that were color painted before coating. That may have been done with Battery cover door ONLY). My early issue Slate Blue is Slate Blue Plastic.

My coating/case was in the first lot.
Mine peeled (blue-green bits) badly. I removed all the coating .
I now have a shiny (nude) Slate Blue Pocket EZ.
The numbers are wearing off.
It is still BLUE.

Mine has a soft, rubber-like surface, very pleasant feeling. Is your PEz surface after removing coating smooth, or has rubber-like feeling?

Hard and Smooth.
I did not replace mine with another unit because it Worked

very well for what I wanted. IMHO Tools are made to be used, not show pieces

I read 3-5 books a week. It gets well used

The only thing I would consider replacing it with would be a if
Astak made a similar unit with "Tall Screen" (9:16 Aspect as wide as the 5", better the 6"., the same aspect as a MMPB printed text)

Dear All:

I think it is so cool that Maroon and Metallic Purple are finally starting to take off. At the start, Black and Slate Blue were almost all of what people ordered. It took a while (and people who owned Maroon and Metallic Purple to post) but these two colors are coming on very strong now (as the chart shows).

It was a toss up between Slate Blue or Black for me. In the end, I choose the black model.

I had the blue originally. As mentioned, slate is the wrong word. It's pretty much a primary hue blue. I'd probably call it intense blue. I've seen it, my first device was blue. After the first batch episode, I thought the blue was a bit too bright for me, so I wanted black.. got black.. then due to screen circumstances I got another one, I requested white in writing, but they sent me black again. Not a big deal. Though it'd be nice if Astak made available casings to purchase for people who are bored.

But overall, I think mid-tones are best. Less jarring contrast. I love my MacBook (it's white). Also, due to the optical illusion effect, I think it may help make letters look blacker, whereas with black casing it may do the opposite.

How about it Rob? Possibility of buying casings for cheap?
