If your processor supports IntelVT and you have a Win7 version that supports XP Mode, you might want to try installing XP Mode and then setting up the Reader Library to run in XPM.

I'm not entirely sure, but you might be correct. The article I linked to kinda read like the two are intertwined. So, running 32bit code on the 64bit os is the job of WOW64. Running in XP compatibility mode would be, well, the virtual XP mode.

For those who don't know how to check whether your processor supports VTx extensions (required for virtualization), download CPU-Z. It's free, very small, doesn't require installation, and is clean.

I just got my Sony Reader yesterday. The Library works fine on my systems. Windows Home Premium x64. My only hope is that they upgrade the collection feature... oy. I want to organize better. But... that probably requires a firmware change too. :/

Some have this version of Windows 7 and others have one of he several other versions. There are too darn many variables for any of you to make a blanket, irresponsible statement that the Sony Reader Library works on Windows 7.

At best, it is buggie on Windows 7. At worst, it simply won't run. And when it does run it has the most god awful interface I've seen in a long time. The interface does not follow accepted Windows guidelines, and it appears to be written in Flash or some other equally deficient software environment. It is slow, buggie, suckie beyond reason, and Sony should be ashamed for turning out such crap.
Now who's making a blanket statement? At best it works as it should because it works perfectly well here on three different Windows 7 based computers. Also, I do not find it slow at all. You complain about those of saying yes it works and then you go saying things that are just not fully true.

Windows 7 was my idea. I told Microsoft that Vista sucks. So they came out with Windows 7.

No. It works as intended on my Windows 7 Profesional.

"And when it does run it has the most god awful interface I've seen in a long time."

Absolutely true.

As mentioned before - IF you have Windows 7 Pro AND IF your cpu is capable of virtualization THEN you can download Windows XP from MS. It is even easier than installing Windows XP on a "new" computer.

I just installed the Sony #%&#@$ on the virtual XP computer, connected to the Sony reader and it worked.

So the real question is WHY would you want to use it? There is a very good alternative - Calibre.

Yes, agreed. I've had no problems what-so-ever with the Sony Reader Library on several machines, but they are all win XP.
