I'm a little confused about that also. I went searching for information and still, I'm confused. Some of the DS forums are not very nice to newbies or talk over their heads and never come back to the post to help. The base knowledge of the newbies was higher than mine, so I didn't bother to post questions, if that was how members answered those newbies.

I did get something about being careful about the type card you buy (check that the website on the box is spelled correctly, as there are rip off sellers).

I'm usually pretty good about finding and filtering information, but this was something I'm going to need step by little step instructions to do. It's something that looks like it would be fun to be able to do...
Makes me want to have younger kids around again just to explain / show it to me.

Read our wiki Nintendo DS. It explains what a flashcart is and why it isn't standard release.

Basically it allows you to run non-Nintendo applications, called 'homebrew', on your DS/DS Lite/etc.

That is often because the very first question the noobs ask is "how can I rip Nintendo games". This gets annoying after the 50th time and is also pretty stupid on their publicly accessible forum and is absolutely something that we don't ever want on Mobileread.

Thanks for the heads up on this, can't believe I didn't know about it...
Thanks for the information, I had already installed DSlibris in my son's DS but I had understood that the format of the books should be xml.

The earliest versions of DSlibris only used xhtml. This was a pain to create documents in and not much else used it. So the developers were pursuaded to add epub.

The current version is 1.4.9 (although the version it displays on startup is 1.4.5) from here:
