Sounds great. But you cannot get any of those in a store. If possible, I prefer going to a place, check out the product and then, if I like it, pay and take one with me. Waiting for delivery with DHL or others here and not being at home during the day is a pain in the neck...

they obviously did it intentionally to try to save sales for the dr1000s that at the moment is the e-ink device with the biggest screen on the market..
but this make sense only till the dr1000 keep being the biggest..
not so many months to wait.. I think..

Since the technical staff at iRex generally do have brains, this is probably due to fit to width being handled by "zoom" and the fact that it was missing got overlooked when the bean counters yanked PDF zoom.
I personally don't believe pdf zoom was yanked before the device was released, I believe that it had not been fully implemented and that management then did their 'brainstorming' about restricting it to the 1000 v3.0 firmware.

We will see when the 1000 firmware is released.

flipbar forward (from left to right)always works great, but backward does not work at most of time, for exmple, I want to read previous page, flipbar from right to left does not turn page , even I try more then 10 times. Occasionally, it works, then it will keep working good, but after a while, it stop to work.
stylus touch always works great.
If this a hardware problem or a software bug?
I'm assuming hardware. I like to reverse the flipbar and set it to turn pages like a book (IE, right to left goes forward). I've read several hundred pages like this over the past couple days and haven't had any trouble with it. Occasionally I won't hit the bar quite right and it doesn't click, but that's user error.

Zoom, yes. As for landscape not fitting to width, I would guess that's probably more of a mistake/bug with the new Adobe based viewer than an intentional design.

This may be the default mode of Adobe's mobile SDK (same for portrait and landscape), but other vendors have managed to get fit to width, and even autoclipping of margins, to work. So this is a lack of attention to detail (a mistake) on iRex's part.

I read with the bar set for right to left to advance the page and I haven't had any issues. Like shaggy I may occasionally not hit it quite right and it won't advance, but that is not often and it is simply user error. I'm on my 3rd book since Friday and it's been working fine.

Technically, it was never "yanked". The Adobe viewer on the DR800 is completely different than the poppler/Mobipocket viewers on the current DR1000. Whether it's been implemented in the new (Adobe) viewer yet or not, we don't really know, but I don't think it really makes any difference either.

after playing with dr800 two days, I quit. go back to kindle DX, though it is not so easy to carry around.
Dr800's touch screen does not mean much, without annotation function. No width fitting landscape and atuocrop margin make it is not good for pdf.

You can always repurchase in the future if the features you want are added. I think you made a wise choice instead of keeping it and constantly complaining about what it lacks.

I think you are right. I have the same problem--a right to left flip is not very responsive and have to push pretty hard to get it to function. Left to right is flawless. With use, it seems to be getting a bit better, but I don't back page all that often, so it may be some time before it breaks in, if ever.

It might just be that the two directions have a slightly different feel to them, and you need to get used to it. The iLiad is a little like this. Flipping one direction isn't quite the same as flipping the other, slightly less movement required, etc. I haven't spent enough time with the DR800 to figure out if it's the same thing, but it probably is.
