Recipedia addition - bachelor surprise
All through college, I never had to break up with a girl.
In college, we had a special dinner we'd make if the girl we were making was making it to serious. (By "we", I am trying to spread any culpability for anything that might come back to haunt me). "Come on over, I'll make dinner!" Always had them excited of the prospect of the relationship going to a new level. Ingredients: Can of beans, two hot dogs, two eggs, two tea bags. peppermint life savers. Put the can of beans into a pan, make sure you remove the top to prevent repainting. By Put, I mean Stand. Pour enough water into the pan to come up at least 1/2 way on the can. If 1/2 way results in water spilling onto the cook top, get a deeper pan. Add two eggs and two hot dogs to the water. Bring to boil. Boil 15 minutes. Turn off heat, remove the can and serve the beans. Depending upon the girl, you might make the portions even, or you might get 2/3's. I didn't approve of nerve gas in the 80's, and I don't approve of it now, but sometimes you have to take extreme measure. Peel the eggs. Discard the shells. Divide the eggs and hot dogs between the two of you. Put the tea bags in the remaining water. If you can serve this in coffee mugs, the effect is magnified somewhat. Fill the mugs with beans as close to the rim as possible. This makes the magnifies the effect when you push the eggs and hot dogs down into the mug also. Any beans that flow over are considered "presentation". Tell her that she can have tea as soon as she finishes her hot dog, egg, and beans. Pour the tea directly into the mug. Any remaining beans will add to the flavor. Add the peppermint Lifesavers for flavor. Sometimes, the girl would leave before the eggs were through boiling. I had one stay right up until dessert. I started to panic then dropped the popsicle we would share onto the kitchen floor and then picked it up, looked at it closely, then announced "whew, it didn't break. Here, you get the first lick." If she had actually put it in her mouth, I would have told her about the mouse I saw earlier that day eating crumbs at that spot on the floor. |

Ooh.... sounds yummy! Does it work on Mongoose as well? No squirrels around here (but when I moved here, I thought "wow, what a funny-looking squirrel... itʻs so long and skinny...")

I patted a penguin on the head once - and nearly got thrown out of the Mystic Aquarium in CT. They have the penguins in open-topped enclosures - kinda of like a hamster habitrail for penguins - a swim course you walk along. This little guy popped his head out of the water and "gave me the eye" - so of course I gave him/her a little pat on the pate - and was busted immediately by an irate guard. We didn't have time for smooches - so I can't speak to their breath quality.

Everyone at my job who has ever suspected that I was a little bit "off" has now had their suspicions confirmed threefold after last night. Thanks to MobileRead, and Queen Zee; the phrase that we all know and love has been stuck in my head for a week now.
Last night at work, I dropped a jar of baby food on the floor. I looked around, there was a customer next to me, and my boss on the next aisle, which effectively stifled what would have *usually* come out of my mouth on such an occasion. So, what did I end up actually saying? "Sweet Fuzzy Squirrels on a Cracker!!" The customer next to me looked like I'd just said the originally intended profanity, and said, "WHAT did you say??" and I hear hysterical laughter coming from my boss on the next aisle. Then I hear more hysterical laughter coming from Deeann, my coworker. I tried explaining it but I guess you had to be here... |

Penguins? Probably taste fishy. Clowns taste funny. Crow? Doesn't taste so good. Kind of like Humble Pie. |
