Does Sony Reader Library conflict with Calibre?

My problem was duplicate MAC addresses confusing the router. Now I have two laptops with the same name(one will be obsolete soon), and I think that may be doing something too.

The ones that work are 2 x desktops(wired) with win7 32bit and a laptop(wireless) with win7 64 bit. And the new printer(wireless).

I haven't been able to launch Sony Reader Library. Just want to rule out a few causes. Does Calibre conflict with Reader Library? Can both be installed and run?

Sony Reader Library stopped working on my Windows 7 PC after having calibre open at the same time. It would then no longer start although it appeared in the Windows process list, (task manager). After re-installs and no improvement I gave up and used calibre which I prefer anyway.

I use both programs together all the time although I gennerally only transfer with Calibre.
I have Sony reader as the default reader for lrf's and epubs instead of calibre's viewer. On my system it loads faster and allows only one instance to run which I prefer.

My only problem is one inherent in Sony reader(SR).

SR always tries to load the last file it opened before the one you are trying to open.

If SR opens a file it can't deal with it will hang or never run again until you delete or rename that file .
When this happens I exit calibre, rename the calibre library directory, open a known good file after clicking ok on the error message.
Then I rename the calibre library directory back to what it was and all is well again.

OK! So I uninstalled Calibre and re-installed Calibre. And it works beautifully, except it froze trying to import a book (from the directory I had the Sony book in).

So far so good. I am happy now I can put what books I had on the reader back into the Calibre Library. (bluddy hard drive crash!)

However......

Now the Sony Reader Library won't start properly. It puts the little book icon in the taskbar and the little circle goes around forever.....not responding!

I did close Calibre before trying it!

Ask in the Calibre forum. You may need to clear your preferences..

I'm beginning to think you may have something more than a hard drive wrong...

I don't like this termporary hard drive. We were going to clone over to the new one. But I think I may do a clean install on the new drive. So I will stop putting all my stuff on it.
