"scholarly" editions of PD books are obviously well worth paying for, for the introduction, footnotes, etc; that's why I have a bookshelf full of "Penguin Classics" editions at home.

I agree that better translation and footnotes would be worth paying for.
However, how do I find out information such as how many translations there are, how do these translation compare to each other, which is generally regarded as the best version etc? |
