Oh, yes, +1 for a time display! But, given power constraints, I'd be quite happy if it only updated on a page turn or other page change.

I just bought the 900 Reader Daily Edition and I have no problems with the glare that everybody else seems to have. I have a 16 gb card that will give me ample of room. I also have all my music collection on the card. Since Kindles doesn't have memory cards slots is why I stayed with Sony. I did have a Sony 505 Reader before this. This is the first time I have a touch screen and its been great. I have no cons with this Reader at all. Right now I am reading Asphalt Jungle by W.R. Burnett. Great book and author. I already read Little Caesar and High Sierra both outstanding books and movies.

Except for the screen issues I'm sort of hoping that everything else, at least the stuff I mentioned , is just software and can be fixed/added in an update. If it comes down to having to buy a new reader it wont happen this year, and I'd be quite tempted to look else where for a company that provides some upgrades for free. I don't think, from past experience, that Sony will have that problem though.

Time for a firmware update?

It seems to me high time that Sony upgraded the firmware of the PRS900 to take care of some of the issues mentioned here. I still love the reader, but it could be even better!

The 600 could also be better, but I doubt any FW updates. I have the clock though by putting on the russification hack. I didn't need "netherlands" as an option so I don't care that it got replaced by "russian"

I know I'm responding to a 2 month old post and I'm sure you seem to have your own work around. Other people have already stated that using the Sony Reader software you can sort your series on your reader.

I believe you can do that with Calibre too (at least with the 300,505 & 600). If you have a large series say 30 books and you want them in series order on your reader you can use Calibre to ensure they are in proper order on your device.

1. To start ensure the series is not currently on your reader.

2. Sort your main Calibre library by clicking on the series column. Now find the books in your series. Make sure they are in ascending or descending order as you wish by clicking the sort column.

3. Now that they are in the order you want them in select the entire series in the Calibre library. Now send them all to the device at the same time, using the send to device option.

Now your entire series is on your reader in Series order.

This works for the rest of the Sony line, hopefully it works for the 900 too.

Yes, it does work on the 900 — it's how I order my collections most of the time. On one occasion I edited some XML file on the reader directly to fix the order because I didn't feel like deleting the whole series and re-sending it as it messes up the "read vs. new" status of the book and I've read a few in that series already.

The Sony reader software is painful to use. And having to delete and add series over and over whenever a new book is added via Calibre is a pain. And it removes the 'read' flag.

But the point is now moot, because I bought a Pocketbook 360 to have a more portable reader to keep in my purse, and I love it so much that it has become my everyplace and only reader. I gave my PRS-900 to my Dad.

I love my 900, but the clock would be good. And where is the Sudoku?

As long as the new book is the next one in the series it will fall in line at the end. No need to delete and add series over and over.

Congrats on your new reader. It does seem to be a very nice reader with a nice set of options.

Sony and FW update for PRS-900

The only update they know is to sell it for $349. It's easier (and cheaper) to lower the price than to add required features. But in the long term....

Dream of Mankind : FW update for PRS-900

You can get the clock via russifying your reader. The FW hack doesn't include Sudoku (yet) though.
