Amazon was gentle with me and sent a replacement Kindle 1 for $99.00 and the return of my Kindle 1. Oddly enough, the replacement Kindle does not have a bar for the wrist lanyard.... hmmmm.
I purchased two paperback books only to boycott them for a few days...
I missed my Kindle too much, it seems.
Joobies.......you had a Kindle with a 'bar for a wrist lanyard?'

this might seem a bit odd...

but i can swear the screen on my replacement refurb kindle is darker than the one that broke. the letters look lighter too. did they update the kindle 2 screens anytime in the past? if so, i'd totally send this one back and ask for a newer refurb...

or maybe i'm just imagining it all! hehe..

Oops, I have been a.w.o.l when I should have remained vigilant.... so sorry.

Yes. My first Kindle1 had a small bar on the bottom left that you could attach a wrist lanyard to..... neck lanyard as well, I suppose. Worked for me - as I AM a belt and suspenders kind of gal. I miss that added feeling of safety.

To the Sony owner whose ereader broke while out of warranty.....
Ny Kindle was also out of warranty... that is why I needed to send the money along with my Kindle, in order to get the replacement.

I am so surprised that the lanyard bar was not standard on the Kindles. It just made so much sense.
