It's a cool gadget - do you really need any other reason?

I think it's great to have as many e-readers as you want.

For myself, one is enough. I have no need to read PDF format on my e-reader. I can do that on my computers.

I love my Kindle2 but at some point I suppose I may be tempted by something new. When that happens I will pass my Kindle2 on to a family member who does not have an e-reader.

And if you live in Kansas, it's in case one gets carried away to Oz!

Where in SW Kansas are you? Just curious. I grew up in OK and am now in Denver...

I'm happy with a single 5" Jetbook. Although I do convert my pdf's to text for easier reading on it.

I'm not sure I'd be willing to give up the light weight and portability for a bigger screen.
Perhaps in a couple of years when this one starts showing its age.

Depending on reading location and circumstances, having both a five-inch and six-inch reader to choose from I find useful. DRM format (either Mobipocket or EPUB) is not an issue as I use FBReader to read in both. Also, in case one breaks or otherwise ceases working, which happened to me.

Love reading .... Love gadgets!

They do get used for different things:
1 PocketBook 360 sits nicely in my bag so goes out and about with me.
2 Kindle is used mostly for annotating and marking up books and my writing.
3 Ipod Touch is used for night reading as small and backlit.
4 Sony I'll admit is not much used these days - it's the one I'll sell first!

Probably all of the reasons listed above and also so that others in my family can use one. I'm not very good at sharing mine.

There is NO excuse for having more than one e-reader!

Having said that, why does *anyone* need an 'excuse' to buy more toys!!!

"Friends don't let friends buy DRM-locked ebooks!"

Unless you're going to show your "friends" how to "liberate" them.

What's that? You need some hand-holding?

I love my gadgets but try to resist impulsive buys. However, I do own two readers:

I own a Kindle 1 because I love the Amazon store and do get some news updates via the wireless.

I own a Sony PRS-505) reader..purchased originally for non-Amazon books (such as the library) but also found I prefer its portability.

While I've been tempted to jump on board with a "newer" reader, the urge usually passes after the initial announcement. I am still waiting for one that offers substantial benefits over what I have now (not that they haven't come out with new features - just nothing that I would really use).

Well, I read on my smartphone when circumstances dictate. I have a jetBook for bright light reading, and 2 old PDAs that are very good for reading in dimly lit areas. I keep all my books on an SD card, and have no problems switching around.

If I want to read a pdf, I use my laptop, but generally, I avoid them like the plague.

Regards,
Jack Tingle

I like my nook, but I don't want to get rid of my eBookwise yet. I have some books that are only in that format (before I learned how to buy in Lit and convert ). And I also think notes and highlights are a little easier to do on the eBookwise, at least when working with a smaller file. So maybe I'll keep it for making notes on some of my stories.
