So unless I jailbreak it, usb transfer will not be possible. That's a dealbreaker for me, since there's also no SD sneakernet or any other method except wifi.

That's too bad, I was really considering getting one. Perhaps I'll just wait and see if someone can load up a better OS on the hardware.

Just use the txtr app to create an account. You can then upload ePub and share with friends or download the ePub. This way you kind of get around the limits that Stanza is putting on and also, the txtr app is less buggy and works a lot better including embedded fonts work.

I'm sincerely curious. How is Apple's refusing to allow 3rd party functionality that duplicates their own ANY different/better than MS's having IE in Windows AND allowing 3rd party browsers to be easily installed?

The short answer, it's not. But until they have 90% of the market, nothing will be done about it.

Apple likes Android phones in the market for the same reason Microsoft likes having Apple in their market, they need to be able to show there is a viable alternative. The difference is Microsoft has to much PC market penetration to get by unscathed just because Apple is out there.

Why is wifi an issue for you? to transfer from USB you must have had another computer?
im sure that computer has access to the internet or its own wifi chip if it does then you can just do the transfer its easier than USB really.

if you dont have acces to wifi via your main computer then I can understand your frustration.
