The first time I saw this, many, many years ago I HAD to open the picture in Photoshop and compare colours in A and B squares. I was genuinely shocked to find out that they, indeed, are exactly the same shade of grey.

Also see this

The orange stripes are exactly same shade.
That's a well-known illusion, of course, but I honestly don't think that it applies in this case. Don't forget, too, that the black PB360 has a white bezel around the edge of the screen. As I say, my practical experience, doing a side-by-side comparison of the white Opus and the black PB360, is that the case colour makes not one jot of difference.

I was not disputing your experience ;-)
I was just answering the question why would I think that the colour of device might affect my perception of the screen whiteness.

When I was ordering my PocketBook 360 I wanted black one, because I thought the black bezel would make the screen look whiter. Forkosigan had only white ones available, and he told me that IF black bezel makes the background look whiter, then white bezel should make letters look blacker ;-) .
I did buy white one, but not because I think that white (or black, or maroon blue) is better colour for an e-ink device case, but because I wanted to have my PocketBook as soon as possible.
I am happy with my white reader, just as I was happy (at the time) with my black (ok, ok, very dark blue) Sony reader PRS-500.

it actually went to the post office yesterday. Sorry it didn't go out sooner - that's my fault. You should have an email with the tracking number.

On the PocketBook web site, it says the 302 has WLAN connectivity. Is this right or do they mean Wifi? WLAN implies 3G or 4G. I am thinking it has WiFI (g) but not WLAN as that would require a service provider like AT&T or Verizon. Can anyone verify what it has?

"Wireless LAN" is the same as "WiFi" in my book. It's certainly what Windows calls a WiFi connection.

The pearly is prettier, though.

I simply don't notice the colour of the device that's in my hand...))) I'd say - no difference at all (for the reader).

If you only knew how hard my girlfriend laughed when she saw me the first time with the white pocketbook

She even offered me her nailpolish - for matching colours

Yes the ivory pocketbook is quite girly and precisely why I really like the look of it! So many of these devices look ugly and clinical to me. I think the ivory PB 360 is the prettiest ereading device I've ever seen. The Kindle 2 is one of the ugliest and I wouldn't like to take it out without a cover - maybe that's a bit shallow of me

Is this the battery you found at Batteries Plus ? It says it's for the Kindle. The Kindle uses Li-ion. The Pocketbook 360 uses Li-Polymer which is safer.
