ADE is Adobe Digital Editions. Here is a link to MR's Wiki with information about ADE and about the acsm file. ADE website.

A thread about Sony Reader Library and ADE. Also, in the MR Wiki under Sony Reader Troubleshooting Guide : Borrowing library books.

I have the 505 and ADE must be installed and the Reader authorized in order to open and read a book on my Reader. I assume this is the same on the 600.

There is the Sony Reader Troubleshooting Guide, but it has just been started and doesn't have the ADE information completed on it yet.

Wow.... I just found a thread that has that same line in it.... "1fskin:/l/string". I wonder if the information in it might help?

I sure hope some of this information helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Dreams. thanks for the info --- never dawned on me to search for
1fskin:/l/string.

What a flaky way to get the thing connected to the pc so that the drives were accessible! Is that a hardware or a software glitch? whichever it is, Sony needs to take a careful look at it!

Anyway, I got it connected to the pc; as it turned out, somehow two of the three folders on the first Reader drive were corrupt. I removed them and the device started like a new one so it is working now.
