If it was a business, I think that I'd be buying EVERY reader in good condition
As for my friends and relatives...now I have one PRS-500 (I do not use it and want to sell or make a gift for Birthday), PRS-505 silver (I use it), PRS-505 (I bought it for my girlfriend). I also bought one PRS-505 silver for my friend, and one PRS-500 for my colleague. My boss wants to buy PRS-505/PRS-600 and asked me to find one. I bought one PRS-700 for another colleague, who has to read a lot of documentation, and the reader will be the easiest way to do it.
I need to buy another one for my elder brother, and one for his wife.

Why so many? Because in my country I can buy PRS-505 for almost $400, PRS-700 will cost approx. $600!. Can you imagine this? 400-600 bucks for the reader, when average salary range in Belarus is about $300/month! In the USA I can buy NEW PRS-505 for $190 (well, I could do this only if I come here and pick it locally from the store...)! Two times cheaper! Many people in Belarus want to buy ebook readers, but they cannot afford it because of its price here. 200+30 for shipping is acceptable price, but 380-400 - NO! And when people see these devices (I was asked many times by random people where I bought it) - they want to buy it. And reasonable price is about $200, but not $400.

Hope it was clear.
Wow! this is amazing. I live in Australia, and I don't know anyone who would like to buy an E-reader, especially one I could provide...

So people earning $300 per month are happy to pay $230 or more for an electronic device, and then pay for books on top of that?

Or... do you give them away as gifts to friends and families... You must earn a lot more than the average person...

P.S. Did you ever contact Sony re a bulk order?

Sorry, English is not my native language, so I don't clearly understand what you were trying to say (see bolded text)...

Yes, you are right. Well, 300/month is average salary. Some people earn more, about $500/month. And yes, they are ready to pay $230 or more to buy the reader (from abroad). Or they will have to pay $400 (in Belarus).
By the way, few years ago I considered moving to Australia or New Zealand

No, they just asking me to help and find cheaper reader. All costs are on them I'm just helping them to find the reader, to send money to sellers and get the parcel from post office. I have some kind of "reputation" here, so it's easier for me to make a deal with sellers. People just know that I don't cheat and was even ripped off by another forum member...

Never did this, and probably will never do, because in this case I will have to pay income tax (30% of the total price). Used reader are cheaper, and I could ask the seller to point "right" price to avoid income taxes.

You were ripped off by an MR member? Hope you reported it.

You would have to pay income tax, if you sell a NEW reader, but not a used one?

In our country it doesn't matter in what condition is the item you are buying from abroad. Without income tax you can buy something that costs not more than 120 euro every month. So, 120 euro is tax-free for one person every month. But sometimes we can do little "tricks" and not to pay more than we are able to

Have you ever heard a phrase: for every "too smart" a$$ there is always a d(i)ck with the thread? Don't know if you could understand it correctly, but try to explain. It means that for everyone who think they are smartest there is always someone who is smarter than they are. Something like that...
So, whatever they do to make us to pay income tax, there is always someone, who can beat the "system"

P.S. sorry for my nasty language

Probably not, the only ones they had were Brick and Mortar (although my brother picked one up in Atlanta, GA).
