Not really

You could save the same book AGAIN using a different path arrangement. You will use up your storage fast this way as you will have N copies of a title on the PEz.

The current software does not allow for browsing by tags or the creation of Symbolic Links (Like shortcuts in Windows. win-shortcuts always include a drive letter that was in effect at the time )

Ok, so basically you just put the book in whatever folder you want, and that's how you find it on the pocket pro?

Yes. Best have a plan

For series books,I decided against Author priority because some books in the series were written by different Author (teams).
So I use 2 basic folder plans (I use Calibre to manage)
00NoSeries/{authors}/{title}/{title}
{series}/ series_index}-{title}_{author}/{title}

the second title is because there may be more than 1 format, image that belong together and the list will really get messed upped if you don't use the extra layer

the series index-Title part puts them in proper order (file name sort) (01,02,03,04...)
Hope this helps you plan

Ok... I'm not quite sure I understand all that... *lol* I do have Calibre though, so once I get my Pocket Pro I guess I'll just have to experiment, and hopefully learn that way. That's usually what I have to end up doing. Thanks!

Ducks, your sorting is a lot like mines.

@Davi,

Basically, you can set up Calibre to create the folders to sort your ebooks for you. So for example:

{series}/{series_index}-{title}_{author}/{title}

looks like this...

Twilight/2-Full_Moon_Stephanie_Meyer/Full_Moon.epub

So then the Full Moon ebook is in the folder "2-Full_Moon_Stephanie_Meyer" which is in folder "Twilight". Since Full Moon is the second book in the series, there's a "2" in the subfolder.

I have another question about organizing books into folders, although maybe I should wait until I get mine to ask... but I guess I'll go ahead. Is there a guide or some sort of instructions as to how to use Calibre for organizing folders? I guess I thought Calibre was just for converting to different file formats. If all the books I have are epub and pdf, I thought all I needed to put them on the PEZ was Adobe Digital Editions. Is there a way of organizing within ADE? Or better yet... I've read that when plugged in, my computer will see the PEZ as another drive. Can I just organize books into folders using Windows Explorer? If this is too complicated a question, then just ignore it and I'll try to figure it out when I get it. (I'm guessing 2-3 weeks.) And now I think I'm done asking questions until I've actually got my Pocket Pro in my hands.

Calibre is a work in FAST progress and the guide is basic.
IMHO Windows Explorer works for a few dozen titles, especially if you current organization is the way you want it. Copy a directory Branch... Paste to the PEz.

There are now 600+ titles on My PEz. I have 2 templates Series, NoSeries

I can Sort or Filter in Calibre and Send (only) preferred formats for dozens of books with a few clicks.
I can use the Device View to remove unwanted entries (not as flexible as the Calibre Library view because not all the same info can be linked to the PEz files)
If you have a Card reader, you can use Calibre to write to that and be ready to pop the SD card into your PEz. You can read while charging

For smaller collections, you could organize and create the folders yourself. But for something like Ducks' collection, it's better done with Calibre.

As far as organizing with ADE, not really. Most people just use it to authorize their ebook devices so they can download and read DRM'ed PDFs and ePUBs. As far as I've seen, you can upload books using ADE, but it does not offer any folder creating options.

Ducks and Acreo Aeneas, thank you both! That makes sense. I just found the manual for Calibre, so I guess I have some reading to do in the next couple weeks. I had downloaded Calibre about a month ago to convert public domain books into .pdb for my Palm. I had no idea it was used for anything other than converting books. I've learned so much since I found these forums a month ago!

Once you have Calibre under control ,

Check out Sigil for making EPUB books better.

BTW If you update Calibre to the latest, it will add a New "Users Guide" to your Library: author calibre.

And I just picked up something I didn't know before. Time for me to investigate Sigil.

Great! Thanks theducks. I hadn't noticed that sitting there in my library. That's a nice idea. (btw author is J. Schember, publisher is Calibre)

I'm finally starting to figure this out! It's taken me a while, sometimes I'm a bit slow when it comes to computers.

I really like the way you have yours set up to sort, with tags being the genre. So if I have mine set up as
{tags}/{series}/{series_index}/{authors} - {title}
will the name of the book show up on my Pez as author first, then title? And is there a way I can just have the author's last name show up in the name of the book, rather than the whole name?

Thanks!

(I'm having so much fun creating my library! I've already got around 120 books ready to read when I get it! )
