I've never had any problems with it and I don't recall ever hearing of problems like that, but maybe someone else has.

Have a look at places like manybooks.net ... not to mention mobileread (oh! that's right here!) in the .mobi section. And then there is feedbooks and, really, other places including gutenburg and gutenberg.ca. You will NOT run out of interesting stuff to read ... you WILL run out of time to read them.

It is very early days: five years from now -- let alone 2 years or 10 years -- the amount of reasonably priced (starting at free) material available in Kindle format to read will be astonishing.

Glad you like it! I kinda thought about the next page button as well, it is so crisp now. But Amazon guarantees it for a year, and within that time if it gets sloppy, they will probably replace it.

Soo I figured out a slow but easy way to fix my pdfs.. Basically adobe reader lets you copy and paste it so I just copy and paste the areas I want into a word doc which I can save as a pdf again on word 2007. I might see if saving it as a word doc and then getting it converted through my kindle email address will work better than saving it as pdf again. It'll be an extra step, but worth it. This method would never work for whole books, but I'm doing it for three 9 -15 page short stories.

Also, I love my kindle so much that I'm thinking before graduate school in about a year, I'm going to buy a Kindle DX for more academic articles and such. Then I'll have two. Am I just getting Kindle greedy?

also can anyone explain to me that whole sending the files to kindle and then they convert it? I haven't really figured it out yet, even though I read that part in the manual. How do I see my kindle inbox?

Also, sorry to triple post but here's an addition to my review:

Text-to-Speech:

SO FUN! and funny! You can still tell its a computer reading, but it's very smooth. I love how it flicks through the pages for you. Unreal.

Glad you're having so much fun with it!

Text to speech is fun, I have to admit I do play around with features like that on different devices....

No personal document support

awww just found out that Kindle doesn't convert documents for users outside of the U.S. What a bummer. Good thing I have Calibre. And also good thing that WORD 2007 lets you save things as PDFs so you don't have to go through a converter

Why shouldn't amazon convert documents for non-us users? You pay much more than us customers. But conversion definitively works.

Just set your kindle email address in your amazon.com account, add your own email address to your approved kindle email list and send files to the kindle email address and you are done. To force pdf conversion use the subject "CONVERT".

For free conversion send to your @free.kindle.com address.

I did do that, but I got an email sent to me that says they don't support the conversion for international users. It doesn't really matter for me too much though, but that's too bad because it's a neat feature.

Lol come on, that's where all the similarities end. Different governments, different health care systems, different mentality. Canada is also a peace keeper.
