Another good end-of-the-world title is Trinity's Child, by William Prochnau. Good solid Cold War stuff... the Soviets launch a nuclear attack on the USA, and we see it through the eyes of a B-52 bomber crew.

Another one is Arc Light by Eric L Harry. Again we have Nooclear Combat, toe to toe with the Rooskies. Not a bad one, although it's more of a limited nuclear exchange than Trinity's Child.

However, I'm not sure of the e-book availability of these titles. I read them in p-book format.

The mobi format has a proper Table of Contents for this book, fyi. So if you prefer your ebooks to have a TOC go with the mobi format. And then just convert it to epub or whatever format you prefer.

Might I suggest A Canticle For Leibowitz. Just a terrific read.

The SIGMA series by James Rollins and the Cotton Malone series from Steve Berry deal with that and much much more. You could call the genre historical fiction, some of my favorites books!

I tried getting through The Templar Legacy by Barry after a teacher recommended it (yeah, I'm still school age :P) but couldn't get through it... very slow read for me.

Haven't heard of the SIGMA series, although I did read The Judas Strain by Rollins. I'll have to check it out!

Does someone know where to get those from Suzanne Collins in ePub format readable on the Sony? I checked the usual suspects ; Sony Store, Kobobooks, Fictionwise, nada...

Thanks

I think you and I fell upon the same ebook freebies, because I started reading those authors with the same books (although the Judas Strain is the 4th book in the SIGMA series and I wasn't aware of it at the time, DOH!).

I generally prefer James Rollins vs Steve Berry ; I agree with you Steve's writing is slower!

Actually, I have both of those books and the Hunger Game series as pbooks - not eBooks (actually haven't read a single eBook yet - waiting for my nook on Tuesday!)

Now I'll definitely have to check out the other SIGMA books, then. I seem to have a knack for starting in the middle of series books for some reason (such as reading The Da Vinci Code before Angels and Demons.)

Templars? Illuminati? Look into Umberto Eco's "Focoult's Pendulum" but fair warning -- nothing Eco writes is not a lightweight read. Eco makes Brown's books look like "Illuminati for Dummies."

The SIGMA series is great! I loved it... I was really impressed with the description of the different countries/towns.. One of the novels starts in Denmark, and his description of the setup was just spot-on...

Nightworld by F. Paul Wilson.

I haven't read it yet, since it is the last book in his series, where it all comes together. So I need to wait until he wraps up his Repairman Jack series ... I hate reading things out of order
