plastic electronics. Edge is also 2 pounds heavier thicker and the e-ink panel is on glass. i believe the timing has to do with the infrastructure they have built/are still building to support the device.

Besides, the Edge is such an awkward shape for reading. And yes, much too heavy to hold comfortably. And the screen is smaller. The edge is an innovative idea, a lot of people here seem to like it. But I won't even consider it, because I don't want the two screens.
