Jon, thanks but I'm not sure what 'msconfig' is - and I'd like to use calibre as my default ePub programme.

Could you take a little time to let me know how I would go about doing that on a MacBook - imagine I'm five (actually I am five, my typing skills are just really advanced!!!)? If it is possible to do that is.

Many thanks.

By the way, thanks for the support link. Great, reading notes and highlights - not something I'll really need. So if you don't want to use the sony shop, or read notes and highlights, you can download updates while still bypassing the library software?
Perfect.

msconfig is for Windows. On OSX, try right-clicking on an ePub file then chosing "Open With...", then "Other", then select Calibre and the "Always..." checkbox.

Gwyn, many thanks. I've tried opening a file with the the control/one tap on the mouse pad to call up the right hand menu and I see 'open with', I've selected that and then 'other' rather than ADE which is the default already.

That takes me to the contents of the Applications folder to choose a programme - but Calibre is not showing up as an option in the Apps folder. Calibre has downloaded itself as a device.

I've gone into the device section and I can see Calibre, but it does not show as an option - greyed out.

Any ideas, when you have the time.

Cheers Gwyn and thanks for your time - I'll visit your site to see if there's more info.

Change the drop down on the Applications from "Recommended Applications" to "All Applications" :-)
