I agree but also offer a person a heads up that on the Nokia family of readers/devices, as far as I am aware, the only reader software option is FBReader which means no DRM support...ever. I say that as an N800 user for a couple years now...I like it well enough but not that much really. I prefer my old antique Sony Clie nx73v because I can read DRM MOBI books which cannot happen on the Nokia OS devices w/o from a friendly script or two.

Hi, I know I'm a month late in responding...I'm still winding my way through the forums. I, too, read a great deal on my Palm TX and went to an eReader this Christmas. I'm sorry I did.

I actually have more eyestrain with the eReader using it at night (when I primarily read) because the little book lights are just not sufficient for me.

I bought the leather cover with the built-in light, same issue. I bought a clip-on light (as you'd use with a "regular" book) and not only does it not illuminate the whole screen area, but to position it so that it comes close then causes a "hot" reflection of the light itself on the screen, requiring constant repositioning.

I wish I'd waited just 3 more months for the iPad - all I wanted was a slightly bigger device (more page room, bigger font for the over-forty eyes). Who knew Apple would set their price-point so low? Had I but known...

Good luck in your quest. I'd love this eReader if it were backlit.

I finally decided on the Astak Pocket Pro. It arrived yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it! I was afraid I'd have difficulty reading without the backlighting, but I'm finding it's not too bad, as long as there is sufficient light around me. Last night for reading in bed I just propped a small LED flashlight against my pillow, and that provided sufficient light to read by. I will eventually invest in a book light (I think I want to get the Mighty Bright TravelFlex), but for now a flashlight is working.
