I wonder if the navigation button being labeled to show next/prev/back means that it doesn't automatically adjust to the device being turned sideways. The Opus does this, and it's very convenient to be able to advance the page using a downward press of the navigation button regardless of whether the button is on the left or right side.

When rotated to the side, the buttons stay the same.

On saying that, if the PocketBook 302 doesn't turn out to be as good as I thought then I may have to put my prejudices aside and go back to looking at the BeBook Neo against the PRS 600 / 900 ![]() |

I (just) own the Onyx Boox, the black seem quite good. I can only compare to my previously owned Irex. (If you ever go to a beach with an ereading device...remember they are not waterproof!!
![]() I've got the new 1.2.1 firmware installed. And it already includes the fixes (e.a. Wifi) that Bebook claims to have fixed, so I guess the device is basically the same (except for the integrated store). I picked it up for €339. I've got a discount code for a €10 discount for those interested in the device: 1200148QP60ONYXBOOX (ebookreaderdiscounter.com) |

I hope they also release a black version. In white it looks too much like an iPod or an iPhone ... and I can't stand any of them.
I liked the design of the extinct Bebook 2 better. Basically I wouldn't care much about it at all, but since about an hour ago, my Bebook 1 is having issues with the display. I guess I have to send it in ... ![]() |

i wouldnt knock finger swiping - i first played around with a touch screen itouch as a novelty, but got so hooked I bought the first gen iphone when it was released.
Having used it now for a long time I think swiping is excellent - the only thing i would say is it would be nice to have a marriage between touch screen in addition to physical buttons - number of times I hung up on a caller by accidently pressing the phone to my ear, or having frozen fingers trying to desperately take my gloves off just to answer the phone! Obviously you wont have this problem, unless you fall asleep on your eReader :-) , but I think their is merit with finger swiping. As an ardent fan of my now very out of date palm T3 I also use stylus and its no biggie other than loosing your stylus (I always tend to put my nintendo ds stylus down and forget to slot it back in), so i think stylus would work as well, altho for comfort reading, it was much easier using swipe on iphone, or buttons/wheel on my bebook. If there was no bezel and only screen, I would want to be able to simply tap the screen (with my thumb) to turn the page. IMO. |

I'm also not a fan of swiping, but I wouldn't mind being able to touch a corner of the screen to change the page, or even to activate the options menu. If the screen were logically divided into 4 sections, then the two sections on the "bottom" (as determined by the internal sensor) could be used for back/forward, while the two sections on the "top" could be used for menu/user-defined. Of course, the user should be able to assign an action to all 4 "logical buttons", not just one.
