I've liked all of the Doctors except for the Fifth (Peter Davison), who was okay but didn't really grab my interest. The abrasiveness of the Sixth Doctor was a welcome change for me and his personality grew on me as the series progressed. One thing I've noticed is that each Doctor tends to evolve in a direction away from the way they first appear. The best illustration of this is with the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy). When he first appeared I was expecting him to be similar to the Fourth Doctor. However, by the end of his run he'd become similar to the First Doctor (William Hartnell). I look forward to seeing the new Doctor. In the words of the Fifth Doctor (I think this is a quote): "That's the problem with regeneration, you never know quite what you're going to get." I think this will be the case with the new Doctor. |

I'll miss Tennant too. And though I'll give this new guy a chance, I fear they're going to go the "younger and edgier" route with 'im.

I love doctor who, I didn't quite cry at the end, but it came kinda close. David Tenant was the first doctor I saw, I have since gone and bought many of the dvds from back in day, and I love them too. |

As has been said, your "first doctor" will always be the doctor for many. With me, it was Patrick Troughton.

The finale was excellent, but oh did I cry. Doctor Who is about the only show that can do that to me, and David Tennant was my favorite doctor. :,(

I'm not so sure about Matt Smith; he seems to be a bit too young, but then again IIRC people were saying that about David Tennant before they saw what he could do, so I'm remaining optimistic. Still, though, it's hard to replace Tennant... |

I really enjoyed the Doctor Who marathon on BBC America New years weekend. I saw a lot of shows I hadn't seen before. I didn't have the BBCA channel before. I had see some of the early Tennant episodes and some of the Chris Eccelston, enjoyed them both and I remember Tom Bakker from PBS broadcasts. I will be watching to see how the new Doctor developes.

As a side note the Doctors companions were quite different. Rose was good, Martha was fierce, but Donna was a pain! All she did was cry. She really started to bother me after a while. Don't get me wrong I didn't dislike her but the crying every episode got old. I hope the new companion is more adventureous. |
