Gen3 Gen 3 Update to 1.5

I've just done the deed to 1.5 - am impressed to a certain extent...

hows about tailoring the folder-level image ? Looks boring with them all the same.

I use Calibre to set meta-data etc, but the display within folders does not take account of series order ? Looks like I'll have to re-jig my library a wee bittie ....

You could leave the library/metadata as is, and just "re-jig" the Calibre "save to disk" template. For instance, I have mine set to use:

{author_sort}/{series}/{series_index} {title}

which gives me top-level folders by author, and -- for books that are part of a series -- series subfolders with file names prefaced by the series index.

(As I have some books in multiple formats, I also set "file formats to save" to only mobi)

Here it works...That is the biggest improvement on 1.5 for me, together with the delete button

The 200Mhz device have some limitation on these (+/-) buttons, you need to press another button before to use them.

Any other button. Any button that turns the green light on. Then you have be quick pressing the +/- buttons (not lightning-fast, just don't wait more than 1-2 seconds after the light turns off again).

If you don't want to turn the page, you can call the menu (center button) and then dismiss it (left or right button).

The problem is the unit sets itself into "sleep" mode after buttons are clicked. Other buttons do "wake up" the unit, but not the +/- buttons, and you have to use them before it goes to sleep again.

I went 1.5 because ePub offers nothing for my reading and I would lose the dictionary. I'm happy with it. +/- works, delete button too, with folders I've been able to reorder my books and the dictionary lookup is faster (thank you by the tip, chlorine). Besides, it hasn't frozen since the update (on Christmas' Eve) and I've been using it, and I've left it on, something I didn't before because of the freeze.

I've found dictionary lookup slower, not only on giving options, but also on getting to the definition itself.
2 dictionaries in e-book folder and all my books in a parallel folder ....

Okay, we now have folders (Yippee and well done Bookeen)....

any one know if we can add a decent picture to them ? there's a lot of boring sameness there.

btw way (and I apologise if this is an old topic) I add covers via Calibre to my mobi books, but often they don't show up on the Gen3 - just the generic ones given by Fictionwise (etc).....this happens on both DRM and non-DRM books....

Apparently, many Mobipocket books use an older PRC format that does not support proper cover images, instead they just have an image as the first thing in the book. The Cybook can use this image to generate the thumbnail, but you cannot change it with Calibre, unless you "convert" the book to .mobi

On Mobipocket FW? It never happens to me but I don't add the covers with Calibre. I had some problems with it, so I add the cover with Mobipocket Creator and they always show well.

[Edit] I hadn't seen the last answer. Another thing I never do is sending the same book I've bought, adding only the cover. I strip DRM, obtain the OEB directoy, change the things I don't like (typically adapt format, change cover and add description and series in Publisher field) and I generate the new PRC. In this way I never have had any problem with the cover.

Interesting comments about re-creating the mobi file - i'll have to try that and see how it goes ..... cheers.
