Just to add for information that Nook in Thailand cannot be registered; thus cannot download book samples and buy ebooks via Nook wifi.

However, I still can go to the Shop menu, view ebooks list, excerpt, customer reviews; also can download The Daily content.

12/24 I think you can change in nook settings.

For busybox, assuming you have everything installed as it says on nookdevs:

adb shell /data/local/busybox date MMDDHHmm.ssYYYY

I might be wrong about where the seconds are (they might be after the year), I hope *x experts will correct me if I'm wrong.

PS. This sets time for the GMT, you might want to adjust the clock -- I haven't played with setting timezones.

I have read the details above, and am just not willing to go through all of that.

I will not be buying a Nook. I will go back to looking at the Sony, which is a shame, but it appears to be able to accept a wide range of formats. I haven't yet tried out the store to see if I can buy books from them, but at leats it is sold in Canada so that should be promising.

I get so heartily sick of being treated like a third world backwater by these marketing types.
You are new to this forum. That is why you haven't read (as it has been mentioned 100 times) that regional restrictions have nothing to do with discrimination (these "marketing types" would be more than happy to take your money!) but is about contractual obligations that limit sales territories to certain areas. For many, many products the US is the area with the lowest prices and therefore US sellers are not permitted to sell to any other country. And, by the way, you have just insulted a host of countries where people are facing the same problem, some of which are much more advanced than Canada

Anybody in Europe or Germany using a Nook? Does it work good, besides the problem of purchasing books.

I'm in france and my nook is working pretty well, pdf reading needs improvement.

You can even buy books from B&N but that requires few tricks here and there.

Correct adb command to setup time is the following :

adb shell date <EPOCHTIME>

Be really carefull, my nook currently doesn't boot due to a bad time setup, I have to downgrade it to 1.0.0 to restore it. So don't toy too much with date settings.

Not sure I can help, I didn't have any issue going to the Daily after modifying my date/time. Are you sure you didn't set a time in the past ?

By the way it wasn't necessary for me to downgrade to revive the nook, I just had to remove the battery all night long and time was resetted. So it booted again My previous post is now edited with a simpler command line. You just need to convert current time to unix format (numbers of seconds since 1970).

Are you implying that the command I mentioned is incorrect? You're referring to a command which is harder to use, there's a reason I've mentioned busybox.

Yep your command broke my nook, I had hard time getting back to work That's why I'm posting the correct one, it's quite easy to use, you just need to get the unix epoch which you could find easily on any search engine.

Easiest way would be to enter the following search "current time to Unix time" in wolframalpha.com.

With this easy one argument you cannot be wrong. There is still the issue of timezone, I don't currently know how to change it.
