Thanks. See my list above.

Doesn't seem to resemble what Don is showing.

What does yours look like?

The LRX files are already on my computer. They're also in my Reader Library. Nothing needs to be downloaded. I'm just trying to transer what WILL work on the 505 also onto the 600.

My 600 is an authorized device, as is my 505. My computer is authorized device. However, for some reason, on "Manage Devices," an additional computer is shown as authorized. Here's what is showing:

1) Sony 505 [correct]
2) HP Pavilion [my computer - correct]
3) Reader Library 3 [I have no idea what that is]
4) Sony 600 [correct]

All are showing "AUTHORIZED." However, the title "READER LIBRARY 3" gives me the option to "Deauthorize," whereas the other ones do not offer that choice. Basically, it's saying I've authorized 2 computers and 2 devices, which is incorrect. I only have one computer and two devices. (This information was gathered without having a Sony Reader tethered to my computer this morning.)

So what's up with that #3 thing?

By the way, I have no problem putting ePubs onto both Readers.

Don
When I upgraded to V3, or maybe the later one, there was a new authorized computer called "Reader Library 3". My old computer name was still there and shown as authorized. I have no idea why this happened. I changed my old computer name to "Please delete this device", then renamed "Reader Library 3" back to my original computer name. I then went on Sony Chat and said please delete the computer labeled "Please delete this device" and they did without question. It took about 5 minutes, but this was well before the Christmas Season.

You can only deactivate the computer you are currently signed-on with so the computer you are using is named "Reader Library 3". Only Sony can deactivate your old computer name. (Did you by any chance get a new computer and not "deauthorize" your old one?)

I hope this helps, but it doesn't really explain why this happened.

If you are allowed to "Deauthorize", that is the computer you are currently using, same with an attached reader. You can rename any of them to give them a more meaningful description.

I've got two authorized computers listed. I accidentally logged into my account on the other desktop. That's how the second computer became activated.

As for the topic, Calibre will convert LRF, but nothing will strip the DRM from LRX. And seeing as LRX is a dead format and most LRX has been replaced by ePub, nobody is going to waste the time do strip the DRM.

Gotcha. That must be what Don had already done. I was not even aware of this part of the "system"

Okay so I identified my Sony 505 but the other one is certainly not my Pocket Pro, I didn't think Sony would recognize anything but Sony readers anyway. I suspect it is the 505 that I gave my son for Christmas, but I thought I'd been careful not to register it with anything.....hmmm

I'll have to try to remember to check it next time he has it here.

Hmm and that second computer is not my netbook so my next best guess is that it's my work laptop....eeek!

There are two things, then, that are problematic:

1) What is #3? (I only have one computer.)
2) Why can't I transfer my LRX files to my 600 - LRX files that WILL transfer to the 505.

I do have a netbook, but it's in Peru at this moment. I've never used it to transfer any files, although I do have the Sony software on it. I never authorized anything using that computer. In fact, I have never logged into the Sony software on that computer. -- It's just there to read some files; nothing more (at this time).

I'm afraid if I Deactivate that #3 [the computer], that something will get "stuck" in my actual computer that I'm using right now - my HP.

But what about an inability to transfer those LRX files onto my Sony 600?

Don

Can you drag and drop them?

From other threads it seems the new library software wants you to download the epubs to replace the lrx's is that what is happening when you try to transfer them, it tells you to download the epub or just throws an error of some kind?

Yes, it will load the ePubs onto both the 505 and the 600 - no problem. It throws an error on the 600 when I try to load an LRX.

When I try to load an LRX onto the 505, there's no problem. (LRXs that I purchased previously, I might add.)

Maybe I'm not being clear. Just in windows, can you drag and drop one of the lrx's to the 600 (without using the Sony software)?

I'm going to try that now.

In the Reader Library program, I tried to just drag one file onto the Reader 600, but it would not accept it.

I'll try what you suggest right now.

I'll post a follow-up on this same thread in a moment.

Don
That's weird (I assume this message is on the 600) so the copy and paste worked?

That makes it sound like the reader is not registered, or maybe that lrx file is not properly encoded for the 600 reader. I guess that might make sense if the file was purchased before the 600 was connected/registered.

Hmmm.....

I'm pretty sure some others here were about to do what you just tried and it worked.
