Congratulations, edged out Gimp even.
![]() and interestingly of the 10 listed I use 5 of them on a pretty regular basis. And just downloaded one more - Inkscape. ![]() Last edited by kennyc; 12-27-2009 at 11:55 AM. |

Congratulations, Kovid!
If not for Calibre I'd be still only using my old PDA and my notebook to read PDFs and LITs! Now I may exchange bettween those two and my iPod Touch and my Sony PRS-505 (using ePub, mostly) when convenient... which is to say, all the time ![]() Thanks for all the hard work!! |

Aside from the fact that it SHOULD have been #1, this is excellent!

Definitely should have been Number One. There is some great stuff on that list, but Calibre is my favorite Open Source software by far. Sony ought to pay a royalty - the Sony Software is pretty poor; Calibre makes the Sony reader great.
It's a nice add on for the Kindle too, and makes a good ebook reader, but Calibre elevates the Sony reader from a nice piece of hardware to great ebook reader. |

It is almost funny - if it weren't for Calibre I really wouldn't have got another Sony, their own software is just that bad. I'm sure I am not the only one either - I wonder if Sony realise just how much they owe to Calibre.
This may be the case with other readers too, I don't know - though my Mother (who is now a Calibre user), uses it for her Kindle... Last edited by NightGeometry; 12-28-2009 at 02:32 AM. Reason: Late night typo: own == owe. |

Congratulations, Kovid:
You had already made my list of most-used software of 2009. Calibre just keeps getting better and better! |
