Our Christmas Blizzard just started in full force. We've had a Winter Weather warning out since 0700 this morning, Thursday, which is not over until 0700 Saturday. 38 hours of blowing snow.

I had to postpone my sons coming for Christmas Day, but well reschedule for a week or so.

As a born southerner, from Houston, I love the snow at Christmas.

My sympathies go out to those of you having nasty weather - we have a couple of inches of snow on the ground from earlier this week, but sunshine and blue skies now.

All last week brought cold wind, combined with rain and drizzle, but Friday morning, I looked out the window....and it had snowed!

So I did end up having a White Christmas. Granted, the snow had melted off by the time I left to the family Christmas party, but still.

As for me, I was actually referring to the weather being miserable, not me in particular

I just spent a hair over 1000 and bought computer pieces, so I have a new PC! YAY Me!!

Although, after getting all the pieces in this week, and removing the HDD cage in order to get the ATI 5870 to FIT (i'll put my HDDs in old CD Rom cases and install them in the empty 5 1/4 slots, The 700 watt power supply ended up not working. Luckily Newegg covered it and it's on its way back with an RMA number. I hope to get the replacement by the first week of Jan.

Ain't that the way it goes sometimes!

Good way to celebrate the holidays... a new and top notch computer!

I broke down about 5 months ago and bought a $399 Dell Notebook. The notebook I had was 6 years old and slower than Chocolate Gravy in Anartica! It was taking about 20 minutes to boot up. I would turn it on in advance and then go out shopping. I think it was previously owned by George Washington. The new one is a Dual-Core Pentium. It is not elaborate but it seems like a godsend so far!

So, I can imagine you are going to have a great time and I am happy for you!!

They have 700 Watts of power in Arkansas?? I thought the old water wheel could only generate 600 watts? Training the fish to jump into the water wheel can help a bit!

Soon I will be at CES! I go in on January 2 to try and get the company house in shape. The garage door is busted and the landscape lady has not been paid recently. Then we need Maid Brigade to clean and mop for dust. I have to check the automatic drip irrigation to assure it is working properly. Getting ready for CES is not always smooth. Last year the house wireless was down. That took two full days to get the new parts and get it back up. Always something pops up!! When you cram 11 people into a two-bedroom house for 6 days it is a novel trick. I will be washing bedding and towels for the entire weekend and more before they arrive!

I ALMOST had a white Christmas this year, it snowed a few days before Christmas, the first time I've seen snow here since I've moved to Croatia 6 years ago. Alas, the snow melted before Christmas Eve came along. I grew up with a white Christmas pretty much every year (in Canada) so I really would have liked to see one this year... maybe next year...

We started snowing at 3pm on Thursday, after all day Wednesday switching between rain and freezing rain. Fortunately for us, it was mostly rain. But Thursday afternoon the Blizzard hit. Horizontal snow from then until Friday evening, then snow still falling all day Saturday and Sunday morning. When we opened the garage door Sunday afternoon, this is what we found. I got a ruler out, and it was at least 14" on the driveway. Funny thing, my next door neighbor left his two cars out, and he didn't have any pile up at all.

Dear all:


I did get to the doctor on last Wednesday and have been on antibiotics and an inhaler ever since. I feel much better. So, thank you to all for the well wishes. I appear to be improving.

We do not get much of the white stuff in Northern California. Went to Chicago for two days a week ago and was like a kid in a candy store when it snowed lightly both days. That was enough of a White Christmas for me!!
