Is the lack of ragged-right justification the reason I have large spaces between some words on a page of a book?

I just returned my Kindles since I found them far too fragile. In 3 weeks I had 2 with broken screens and one that would lock up. They're also way too big. Sure, they're thin and light, but they are too tall and wide.

Having said that, any thoughts on what I should buy? The Kindle 2 is not for me. Paying $161 every time the screen breaks adds up in a hurry. The last time they wouldn't replace it for that much, I would have had to pay full price. That means a working Kindle cost me $783 over the course of 3 weeks. And, the Kobo, although nice at $149, has terrible text (for my preference). I wouldn't buy it if it were $49, given the text options.

Sony? Nook?
WOW! I would hate to see your plates, cups and glasses...

On what you should buy: Read on something that won't break, like stones...

The first one had a tv remote dropped on it. Ok, not the Kindle's fault. I did order a cover, but it hadn't arrived by the time that #3 arrived. I was reading in bed and it dropped from my chest onto the side of the bed (4" drop). There wasn't a mark on the white plastic, but the internals of the screen were smashed. I did take good care of it and IMHO, the last drop that it had should not have broken the screen. I'm in Canada, so the extended warranty is not available here.
