We're currently planning a new house and have included a library room due to the large number of pbooks we own (about 3000). Estimated cost of the library room is over $5K.

Several years ago I started buying ebooks & now own about 700. Estimated cost of the 'library room' for my ebooks is about $50. Do pbooks cost more than ebooks? Definitely!

For me it's the other way around it seems. I tried buying a book when I set my location to UK but I couldn't buy it, probably because my set location and billing address didn't match. Or it could just be a glitch nothing to do with it. I now added a UK address, my old university address, hopefully this will solve it.

There are two books I'd like to see an ebook version of:

- Cyberbooks by Ben Bova. Considering that this is a book (released in the late 1980s) about the introduction of the first ebook reader, it would seem like a perfect candidate for an ebook.

- Infinite Crisis by Greg Cox. An outstanding novelization of one of the biggest events in DC Comics. Although it is enjoyable for the comic book reader, it is also able to be enjoyed by the non-comic book reader too.

Vacuum Flowers and other novels by Michael Swanwick. His short stories are available in collections from baen, but not his novels, I emailed him, here's what he had to say in October 09:

Quote:
I don't think any of my novels are currently available online, just a scattering of stories. (If any of my novels are available, I'd appreciate knowing where, so I can ask my agent if they're legitimate.) When I finish the novel I'm currently wrapping up, I'll look into the possibility of arranging for my books to be sold as downloads.

But for now . . . unfortunately, there's not a lot of help I can offer. Tor is thinking of reissuing my first two books, but they'll certainly want my new one in hand before they commit to that.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you. A couple of years down the line, things should look different. But for now, all I can offer are my apologies.

These are available. And you can currently buy all seven at fictionwise for under $30, and still end up with lots of micropay for other books.

1) If you're not a club member, buy a club membership for $29.95. You currently get a 100% micropay rebate, and a coupon for a $10 book.
2) Now add all seven books to your shopping cart, and then apply discount code jk25. The total for all seven is now $22.90 with $9.15 rebate. Buy with your micropay.

You now have all the Narnia ebooks, $16.20 micropay left for other books, a $10 book code, and a year's membership in the fictionwise club, all for $29.95. A pretty good deal!

(I have the mobipocket versions. The books average around 2MB in size because of the illustrations. I don't know if the .lit versions have higher resolution images. I suspect that they might.)

Thanks, pdurrant! The Previews I saw on eBooks.com and BooksonBoard.com didn't look like they had illustrations. I'm definitely getting them!

Thanks for the information. I was looking for Cyberbooks as a separate ebook. It didn't occur to me to look for it as one part of a grouped collection.

Update: I purchased the collection, and was surprised to find an excellent short story (A Slight Miscalculation) that I'd read back in the early 1980s as part of a short story collection.

Can't argue with that math.

You don't even need to be an accountant to realize that is a good deal.

Looking for the whole Darkover series of MZB, the five Raven novels by Richard Kirk, a complete run of old pulp series like The Shadow and Doc Savage.

Until you realise that the books you want are regionally restricted to "not where you live", yes.

Ooh the Darkover novels, yea. I have quite a few, but getting some of them (without paying silly prices and shipping charges) is a PITA...

Colleen McCullough - Rome Series

I would actually be interested in investing in the cost of converting some of these to ebooks for a share of the profits. It wouldn't be hard to find someone that owned a used bookstore for 20 years who could tell you the big movers.

I have loved Gordon Dickson's "Dragon Knight" series since the first of this series, The Dragon and the George was released. After a few years he started writing an amazing series until his death. They are all available in both hardback and paperback, but unfortunately no ebooks yet.
