Sorry you had a problem, but the Jetbook lite is a great reader at a great price. The screen is better than the Kindle, Nook and Sony and does not do that crazy flash when turning pages. The JBL is the best reader out there.

The (not crazy) flashing is not as big a deal as you may think, otherwise e-ink screens would have been a failure, which they aren't.

I'm glad you're happy with your JBL but that does not mean it's the best reader for everyone. In other words, no need to bash to extol the virtues of your particular reader.

There is no "best reader out there" - that is why I currently have 7 different readers, as you can see from my profile on the left. Each has strengths and weaknesses. If there were one which was clearly "the best", life would be a lot simpler.

Well my wife does not like the Crazy flashing, and found it very bothersome. I am not bashing any other readers, but based on my wife's reviews I believe it is the best one out there. Remember that any comments are opinions, and I am entitled to mine just as you are to yours. It is up to readers to sort through them and make their own choice based on what others feel. I have no vested interest and make no money on anyone's choice of reader.

There may not be any best reader out there, but I cannot imagine why there is any reason short of having too much money and not knowing what to do with it to have seven different readers. Just can't see how anyone can justify that one.

Notice how you are now saying it's an opinion. That is not how you phrased your comment originally. You clearly made a declarative statement previously.

It just annoys me that a 1-month old machine freezes, then refuses to have its firmware updated, and the company only says "send it in". I am in Germany, sending it in is not an option.

I am now spending double on the Kindle, plus all the extra's (like rechargable batteries and SD card) that I bought for the JBL. I should have just stayed away from the cheapest option on the market...

The "crazy screen flash" is there for a reason: so multiple pages don't start ghosting and collaging together. Having it flash black-to-white solves practically all the ghosting issues of the very early test models.

I'm sorry that your imagination is so limited .

Yes because the screen technology is not good enough to redraw without it. Better displays do not need to do that.

Hope you have better luck with your Kindle than you did with your jetBook, but your comment about staying away from the cheapest option based on a singular experience with a lemon is actually quite stupid. In quite a few ways, the jetBook is a superior device to the Kindle, despite the lower price.

And the Sony 505... in your opinion?
